Nigeria is facing a troubling contradiction. What type of country are we trying to bequeath for our children? The same lawmakers who have proposed a fine of ₦10 million and up to two years in prison for dual political party membership have simultaneously removed certificate forgery, age falsification, and false declarations as grounds for challenging an election in a tribunal. This is in direct contradiction to the provisions of the Constitution of Nigeria (1999, as amended). This situation raises a fundamental question about the priorities of our political system. In any serious democracy, the gravest offense in public life is deceiving the people to gain power. Submitting false documents, falsifying one’s age, forging certificates, and making dishonest declarations to electoral authorities are among the most serious offenses in any democracy. Such actions not only lead to automatic disqualification but also warrant criminal prosecution. Yet today, our electoral system seems more focused on protecting political structures than on upholding the truth. There is no justification for prioritizing punishment for party alignment over punishing false certificates, forgery, and other forms of deception in the pursuit of public office. Laws should strengthen democracy, not weaken it. They should promote ethical leadership rather than lower standards for those who aspire to govern. A nation cannot rise above the integrity of its leaders. If we truly want a better Nigeria, our laws must defend truth, character, competence, and accountability. We cannot continue to tolerate criminal behavior. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

Yesterday during the Nigeria vs. Gabon game, while walking to the other side of the pitch after halftime, I saw some banners and placards, and I noticed some of them calling my name. I was like, do they have a Pooja Nation in Morocco? But to my surprise, it was a very serious issue. Sigh. One of the students said that the Nigerian Bilateral Education Agreement Scholars under the Federal Government have been abandoned in Morocco for over 15 months without payment. The issue is so critical that they've lost one student to illness because they can't afford his medical bills. I told them I would use my platforms to help them if the relevant authorities would see it. Please RT & the relevant authorities attend to it.

For the first time today, I realized that the problem of Nigeria is not leadership per say, but the opportunists nature of its citizens. I was scheduled for an appointment at the Russian Embassy Abuja by 11am today, and somehow, I missed my way to the Embassy. Instead of the Russian Embassy, I found myself at the UN Office which had the same structure painting with the Russian Embassy. I checked my time and it was 10:42am. Looking frustrated, I asked for directions and the security guards directed me to a cluster of Taxi Drivers at the opposite side. I crossed to the other side and immediately about five of the Taxi Drivers rushed towards me. "Oga where you dey go"? They asked simultaneously "Russian Embassy" I responded "Ahhhhh! Russian Embassy. E far o" one of the men responded. "Is about two hours drive from here" the man added "How much will you take me there"? I asked "Oga na 30k o" he responded My heart skip. I was pleading and negotiating with this man to please accept 20k as I was running out of time but he stood his ground. A Hausa man hawking orange who was following our conversation, came behind me and whispered in Hausa "Dan dai kana sauri ne, Amman akasama zaka iya zuwa Russian Embassy" (if not because you are in a haste, you can trek to Russian Embassy). The orange hawker then instructed me to follow him. I checked my time and it was 10:49am. We trekked few miles, take just two turns and crossed over an overhead bridge. Boom! We are at the front of Russian Embassy. I checked my time and it was 10:57am. I could not help but hug the man tightly until the orange on his stray start falling. We chatted for few minutes. He told me he came all the way from Ingawa Local Government in Katsina State. I told him I am from Funtua local government in Katsina State. We quickly exchange contact and I dash off. While waiting for my turn to be invited into the Embassy, my mind traveled back to the Taxi Driver I was desperately begging to accept 20k.
