She has no “male counterparts.” She’s in the WNBA, not the NBA. RT—Gap between Caitlin Clark's WNBA salary and her male counterparts draws outrage nbcnews.com/news/sports/ga… via @NBCNews
@D_B_Harrison @NBCNews I wonder how much gear and tickets of the WNBA are purchased by those who are outraged.
@D_B_Harrison @NBCNews She presents a golden opportunity for the players to renegotiate their agreement with the league.
@D_B_Harrison @NBCNews That is a huge pay gap.
@D_B_Harrison @NBCNews Salaries are based on how popular the sport is. Nobody gives a flying crap about the WNBA thus they have very little revenue. Since they have very little revenue they pay less than the NBA. This is not some grand conspiracy this is simple economics.
@D_B_Harrison @NBCNews Anybody that's whining about the WNBA pay gap let me just say this. If you haven't bought a jersey from the WNBA or watched any of their games please sit down and shut your mouth. You are the reason for the pay gap.
@D_B_Harrison @NBCNews How about this: The average WNBA salary is 0.17% of the WNBAs annual revenue. The average NBA salary is .096% of the NBAs annual revenue. So if there's a wage gap, its oppressing the men.
Folks! It’s simple math. The #WNBA generates approximately $60 million annually. $15 million of that is subsidized by the #NBA. How much is #CaitlinClark supposed to make? Where is that money coming from? I do not watch their league. I do not buy any merchandise. My money says that the people who are complaining about their pay do not watch the games either.
@D_B_Harrison @NBCNews If we are honest about why the #WNBA can't turn a profit, we would blame #women. They don't like watching the #WNBA either. Change my mind.
@D_B_Harrison @NBCNews Perhaps they just need to raise the minimum wage?
