I came up when the journalism rule was you don’t write a story about a lawsuit until someone files it. If they threaten to file it? Sorry, it’s not news. And you *never* wrote a story about a public figure threatening to sue a reporter for writing a story that SHE HAS NOT READ.
@DVNJr As a longtime journalist myself, my (admittedly) conjecture is that her threats were as much to warn potential sources off giving interviews as to cause reporter to second-guess self. What do you think?

@DVNJr There are larger issues here, too: the quest for clicks and readers; outlets lacking seasoned editors who know to make that call; writers who don't have that mentorship and badly need it.
