I think there is some truth to this conceptually. The perception from CEOs will be AI can replace workforce and drive gross profit margins upward and fast. What they fail to understand is that in order to automate AI in the way that it's beneficial in this way is you already have to have a rock solid process that works manually with GREAT contextual data. Absolute must needed to train the right way to create automation efficiencies, and in large to small organizations - that is nearly non-existent. Couple that with removing the human touch from most white collar/entry level positions will ultimately hurt the human component of interfacing with customers which degrades the product and makes them less competitive. Initial gross profit margin is probably accurate - followed by overall revenue drop mid-long term due to quality issues. Current stat is 95% of AI projects are failing. Until that number trends downward, the hype is going to crumble under the stress. I like to relate this to cybersecurity - many companies have tried to automate or create stop gaps for bad security programs which may help short term, but long term isn't sustainable. Age old argument of buying new next gen products vs. rolling up sleeves to do the hard work to implement cybersecurity programs. Attackers want, cheap, easy, and reliable access to your assets. The job of defenders is to take those away from them. Everything in security is about removing the cheap, easy, and reliable options from the threat actor menu.

A while ago I published an article called "The Art of the Honeypot Account: Making the Unusual Look Normal". This covered some ideas around making a honeypot account look as normal as possible.
