Federal Assault Charges Filed Against Protester Previously Convicted in Child Pornography-Related Case NEWARK, N.J. — A New Jersey man charged with assaulting federal officers during a protest outside the Delaney Hall immigration detention facility was previously prosecuted in Pennsylvania in a child pornography case, according to court records. Brendan John Geier, 26, of Madison, New Jersey, was charged in 2019 while attending Kutztown University after investigators alleged that child sexual abuse material had been distributed through online accounts linked to him. Court filings show Geier faced felony charges related to the possession and dissemination of child p*rnogr*phy. According to Pennsylvania court records, the original charges were later resolved through a plea agreement. In 2021, Geier pleaded guilty to a reduced offense and was sentenced to probation. Court-imposed conditions reportedly included restrictions on internet use and contact with minors. Geier was arrested again on May 29, 2026, during a protest outside the Delaney Hall immigration detention facility in Newark. Federal prosecutors allege that demonstrators blocked access near the facility and that Geier physically resisted law enforcement officers attempting to clear the area. According to a criminal complaint filed in federal court, Geier allegedly kicked and bit federal officers during the confrontation. Authorities said two officers suffered bite injuries and received medical treatment. Federal officials charged Geier with assaulting federal officers. The charges stem from an ongoing federal investigation into the incident. Officials with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Department of Justice have stated that assaults on federal law enforcement personnel will be prosecuted.
