Six years later, I wonder how much we have learned—or, as Chambers puts it, unlearned. Did we learn that our plans can change overnight? That human wisdom and institutions are fallible? That circumstances we thought we controlled can suddenly become uncontrollable? That ultimately our confidence must rest not in politicians, scientists, institutions, or even ourselves—but in God? I believe there were lessons for the Church in that storm. Six years later, I’m not sure we learned all of them. And perhaps that's the lesson for whatever dark cloud hangs over our lives today: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5 (CSB) The clouds change. Our understanding fails. God remains faithful.

Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.” — Proverbs 29:18 (ESV) The old hymn puts it simply: Trust and obey. Our culture tells us to follow our hearts and pursue whatever makes us happy. Scripture points us somewhere else. God has not left us to find our own way. He has given us His Word. God’s Word doesn’t merely tell us where not to go. It shows us the road to take. Obedience doesn't guarantee easy circumstances. Sometimes faithfulness is difficult. Sometimes it is costly. But blessed is the one who orders his life according to God's truth rather than his own changing feelings. So ask yourself: What has God instructed me to do that I’m following? What am I ignoring? Where do I need to return to His Word and obey what He has already said? Circumstances change. Feelings change. God’s truth does not. Trust Him. Obey Him. Walk in His ways.

I’ve never been on the fence about The Chosen. Apart from an occasional clip online, I haven’t watched it. God doesn’t need The Chosen to bring sinners to faith in Christ. He doesn’t need it to grow Believers in Christ. He has given us something infinitely better: His Word. Scripture alone is inspired, inerrant, and sufficient. And when it comes to Jesus, I don’t need imagined dialogue, invented scenes, or creative liberties to make Him more compelling. I want to know, draw near, follow, and worship the Jesus revealed in Scripture. All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. — 2 Timothy 3:16–17 (CSB)

When the cult is a branch of leftist politics, very few will ever leave it.

@Timcast I live in New Mexico, where the Democrat Governor imposed 1 of the most draconian & long-lasting shutdowns in the country. Our churches were shut down for 11 weeks, public in-person schools were closed for 1.5 years, and masks were mandated for almost 2 years. We won't forget.

@WatchChad These were converts to a new pagan religion, led by Anthony Fauci. New converts don't question their leaders. They dutifully and joyfully obey. There may be a few who have since left the religion, but not many, as Hollywood, leftist politics, and science are all intertwined.

It would be funny if it weren't sad. And maddening. #COVIDー19 turned science into a pagan state religion, and Anthony Fauci was its chief advocate. No one could question Fauci or "the science." The Democrat Governor of my state, New Mexico, was only too happy to do Fauci's bidding by closing schools and churches, mandating masks, and criminalizing social gatherings (except the BLM riots during the summer of love). Fauci and his merry band of fellow scientists were wrong about every aspect of COVID, but they will never apologize, for to do so would be to admit they were wrong. And that's something that religious zealots cannot do.

@GadSaad Science, particularly during the COVID era, became a pagan religion for so many, including Julia Roberts. Those who questioned the head prophet, Anthony Fauci, were deemed heretics. I live in New Mexico, which was led by a fundamentalist acolyte of Fauci's. We will remember.

@sagesteele Science & leftist politics (often the same thing now) are part of a secular religion. There is no apologizing. There is no admission of wrong. Why? Because there is no concept of repentance. No one in Hollywood, the Media, Business, or Government will ever say they were wrong.

After making good progress, the last few weeks—including vacation—haven’t been my best. A few old habits have crept back in, and the consistency with eating and exercise has slipped. Thankfully, I’m not back where I started in May (the weight in the photo). But getting off track for a few weeks can become getting off track for a few months if I don’t exercise self-control and make some changes. So, this Monday morning, it’s time to get back on track. Progress doesn’t require perfection. But it does require perseverance. Maybe there’s an area of your life where you need to get back on track too. Today is a good day to begin again.
