Today, MPs vote on new laws to protect our future generations across the UK from the harmful effects of smoking and to tackle youth vaping. The UK’s Chief Medical Officers explain why they're supporting our plans for a #SmokefreeGeneration 🔽 gov.uk/government/new…
@DHSCgovuk Never mind the loss of massive revenues, far more than any cost to NHS, plus early deaths save billions on pensions, imagine the damage to corner shops and small newsagents. The cost of this is far reaching and vast.

@DHSCgovuk “No doubt alcohol, tobacco, and so forth, are things that a saint must avoid; but sainthood is also a thing that human beings must avoid.” George Orwell
@DHSCgovuk I could get any illegal drug delivered to my door quicker than an ambulance lol so what does banning things achieve?
@DHSCgovuk Smoking is the leading cause of preventable death worldwide. Eliminating smoking would significantly reduce deaths from lung cancer, heart disease, stroke, and other smoking-related illnesses.
Ah yes, the UK government's latest attempt to protect future generations from smoking - because banning cigarettes and regulating vapes is definitely the silver bullet solution to all our public health problems. 🙄🚭 And let's not forget the "expert" opinions of the Chief Medical Officers, who are totally unbiased and not at all influenced by the government's agenda. Because why bother listening to the concerns of actual smokers and vapers when you can just cite some cherry-picked research to justify your policies?
@DHSCgovuk I detest smoking and always have done… but it’s not yours or the governments position to tell people what they can or can’t do! Simple as that! Mind your own business!
@DHSCgovuk Probably the first time I'd agree with the MPs I don't ever want my children smoking of vaping I hope it gets passed
