Context/Details: August 26, 2019, Philadelphia. In southwest Philadelphia, a MetroPCS store clerk shot and killed an armed man during a robbery attempt. The incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. on a Monday. The Philadelphia district attorney's office announced that no charges would be filed against the clerk, as the shooting was deemed justifiable self-defense. This decision was made after reviewing surveillance footage from the store. The armed man who attempted the robbery was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was withheld pending family notification. MetroPCS, now known as Metro by T-Mobile, described the event as a "tragic situation" and stated their cooperation with law enforcement in the investigation. Police confirmed this was the third time recently that someone had come into the MetroPCS store with the intent to rob it.
