'Scott Pilgrim Takes Off' creator says Netflix releasing all episodes at once is 'the dumbest shit ever' "There's literally no upside. Imagine if the whole season of X-Men 97 was out"
@CultureCrave i would mean we won’t have to wait 7 days to watch 23 minutes of a show :) idk that’s an upside
He’s not wrong honestly. So much smarter to have episodes released over time. The hype builds, constantly has people talking about your show/platform, and the anticipation for each episode only grows. The only downside is if someone doesn’t enjoy the first episode and doesn’t come back for the next.
@CultureCrave The upside is I binged it and got it out my system right away. It didn't live up to what I expected (which admittingly is a me problem) and not being eager to watch a new episode each week would have probably made me like it less anyway.
It honestly depends to be honest. Usually you can watch a show and tell which one is supposed viewed weekly and which is to be viewed like an 8 hour movie. Scott Pilgrim Takes Off was a spectacle every single episode rather than some episodes being build up and others being the actual good stuff like some shows. So I agree. Weekly release would’ve been way better.
@CultureCrave I agree it's always dumb overall like if u wanna binge it just wait until all the episodes are out releasing all episodes at once is worse for longevity and spoilers
@CultureCrave If you release one episode at a time, the likelyhood of me watching it goes to near zero.
@CultureCrave I don’t mind them releasing all at once, but business wise I get why it’s a problem.
@CultureCrave Shows that have ongoing plots but drop all episodes at once are terrible. There is no community discussion about what could happen next. No theorizing. No building up hype for the next episode. Also there is way longer gaps between seasons
@CultureCrave You mean how it used to be until they started milking subscribers
@CultureCrave Fallout did it, worked well for them.
