This week, @agilityrobotics has announced the release date for their newest humanoid model Digit 5. One of the selling points is its Cooperate level of safety. Meaning, unlike previous models and competitors it will no longer be confined to a workcell for future commercial deployments. It's clear Agility has put the highest emphasis on safety compared to its humanoid manufacturing counterparts. Agility is making Digit to solve the growing labor gap within manufacturing and logistics, not to be a general purpose Humanoid. You simply cannot deploy a Humanoid within a manufacturing warehouse if it cannot lift heavy objects. Additionally, Hurst comments on the lack of supply chain for dexterous fingers. @nvidia is an equity backer and launch partner of $CCXI/@agilityrobotics Digit was the first Humanoid to use Nvidia's safety stack called Halos for Robotics. Now this technology is being used in their new v5, which will launch with the ability to work outside of confined cells in what is called "Cooperative Safety". Digit's V5 will be the first Humanoid with this milestone feature. When you remove the cages, you increase the humanoid's working capabilities. They are no longer confined to tasks they can perform within the cage. Additionally, there are several verticals that simply do not have the floor space for a dedicated workcell. Less cages = more work for Digit 🤖🚀📈

@BessieHoweq36 @agilityrobotics I was really surprised to see JPMorgan was able to quantify the percentage of jobs Humanoids were able to fill given their current capabilities. 25% is a great starting point.

Human vs. Humanoid Labor: The $19B/Year Labor Gap Agility Is Targeting JPMorgan estimates that a humanoid will soon cost roughly $10–$12/hr to operate, compared to ~$30/hr for standard human factory labor. Looking at $CCXI / @agilityrobotics (the market’s main pure-play equity), their upcoming Digit v5 comes out closer to $14/hr. (That's based on an $8,500/mo RaaS rental running ~22 hours a day, scheduled for Q1 2027). While cheaper on paper, productivity is still the main bottleneck. JPMorgan estimates it currently takes 2 humanoids to match the output of 1 human worker. Even so, two $14/hr Digits ($28/hr total) are already slightly cheaper than one $30/hr human. By 2030, JPMorgan expects that productivity gap to shrink to 1.2–1.3 robots per worker. That’s when the unit economics start to get insanely attractive. The Macro Driver: The Labor Crisis Humans simply don't want dangerous, monotonous, low-paying jobs anymore. JPMorgan estimates 462,000 U.S. manufacturing jobs are currently unfilled—a gap expected to 4x in the next 5 years. Agility highlights these exact numbers in their pitch deck. They are literally building Digit to capitalize on this void. With today's tech, humanoids can realistically handle ~25% of those open roles. In today's shortage alone, that's over 100,000 open jobs. Right now, Agility’s RoboFab facility has a max capacity of 10,000 units/year, with current output closer to ~100 units. The Real Math: 1 Robot = 4 Human Shifts If tech improvements push humanoid capability to 50% over the next 5 years alongside that 4x job shortage, we're looking at ~800,000 open human roles (1.6 Billion labor hours needed/year). Here’s where it gets wild: standard labor stats measure jobs in 8-hour shifts (~2,000 hrs/yr). But a humanoid runs 22 hours a day (~8,000 hrs/yr). One robot doesn’t replace 1 human worker—it covers FOUR human shifts. Fleet Size Needed: ~200,000 humanoids (to cover 1.6B hours) Robot Operating Cost: $12/hr × 22 hrs/day = ~$96,360/yr per robot Annual TAM: 200,000 robots × $96,360/yr = ~$19.3 Billion/year The Enterprise ROI: Replacing 4 human shifts ($240,000/yr at $30/hr) with 1 humanoid ($96,360/yr) cuts enterprise labor costs by over 60%. This 2024 interview with $CCXI / @agilityrobotics‘s CEO @PeggyJ is 100% true today and the opportunity behind Humanoids in the workforce. When asked about adoption of the Humanoid Technology; “They are kind of repetitive and dull, people don't want them. Those jobs just in the logistics areas have doubled over the last five years from about 600,000 open jobs to over a million open jobs.” When asked about current levels of factory automation: “There are these islands in the middle where humans are the glue in between, and it's those jobs that can't be filled. If you can't find the humans, humanoids are a great substitute. They can work for long hours, they don't get hurt, they don't get emotional, they don't have anything that you have to worry about. Interesting report here. Unitree is currently considered to be the market leader for Bipedal Humanoids across the globe. The company generated $248 million in revenue in 2025, 51% of which is came from Bipedal Humanoids. However, when we drill down to the sectors of deployment companies like $CCXI / @agilityrobotics are targeting, we see a starkly different reality. Breaking down the $126M of revenue from Unitree's humanoids: - 73.6% from research and education 📚💻 - 17.4% from marketing and retail attractions 🥷🎇 - 9% from actual industry applications 🔨🏭 Of that 9%, only 29.29% was for manufacturing, inspection, and logistics. That large 9 figure number quickly shrinks down to ~$3.3M Agility was getting a lot of pushback for reporting only $1.78M in 2025. The revenue overlap between Agility and Unitree in actual manufacturing and logistics is surprisingly tight. This is the core of the market that is solving real-world labor shortages, attracting venture capital, and defining the long-term future of commercial humanoids. Agility is doing this with stricter safety regulations and a smaller manufacturing base within the US compared to China, all at about 1/10th of the market cap. Agility = $2.5B MC Unitree = ~$31B MC Unitree is currently outpacing every other Humanoid manufacturer when it comes to revenue. But how much of this revenue has staying power? Another day, another bullish report for the Humanoid Market 🤖📈 The report lists $CCXI / @agilityrobotics as one of the "companies currently shaping the competitive landscape." They also mention an "unprecedented level of investment activity" from "strategic investors including NVIDIA, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Hyundai and OpenAI." Great article from the Co- Founder of @SkildAI "In robotics, you cannot leave deployment until the end. How will the supply chain work? Who installs it? Who owns the integration? Who fixes it when it breaks? Who updates it when the process changes? You don’t fully understand these questions until you’re there. Deployment is the hidden pillar of robotics research because it’s where robotics happens. There is no substitute." I think its interesting to see Skild is using similar logic and deployment method as $CCXI / @agilityrobotics. To a certain degree, it feels like Agility "forced" Digit into deployment, focusing on commercial traction rather than perfecting all of the technological components. With that said, they have the highest level of deployment, the value of which we may not fully understand until humanoid manufacturing scales. One of the general concerns about $CCXI / @agilityrobotics is if customers can make the unit economics work at $8,500/month. Based on Digit's current level of output, does it make sense to bring on a humanoid? Or stick with a human? On paper, the math says yes. Currently v4 can work for roughly 16 hours a day. The Robot vs Human math is: Digit $8,500 a month/ 480 hours = ~$18 an hr Humans $30 an hour ($21 + wage inflation, benefits, payroll taxes, ect.) $30 x 480 hours = $14,400/month In theory, you are saving 40% on labor. There are, in my opinion, a lot of concerns with this math though. Humanoids are comparatively limited in the tasks that they can do. For example, Digit is famous for moving totes for the customers within the warehouses they are currently deployed out. But, to fully maximize Digit on this specific task, you will need 120 hours a week of totes to move, and that's a lot of totes. If you do not have enough work for any of the tasks that Digit is capable of doing, then Digit sits idle while your bill stays the same. The only Agility can overcome this is by: A) Providing more value B) Bringing down costs The good news is that Agility is working on both of these things with their v5 model. Providing more value 1. V5 will be created with adjustable end effectors, meaning they will throw away the current paddle grippers v4 uses. Better manipulation will allow Digit to be more productive. 2. V5 will be upgraded to support cooperative safety systems. It will no longer be confined to a workcell and can work among personnel within the factory floor. This further expanding their productivity levels. Bringing down cost 1. Foxconn is an equity backer to Agility, which has previously partnered with UBTech within their Chinese factories. Here, we've seen drastic improvements in their production scale and output over the course of the last year. Hopefully, Foxconn's expertise will help Agility hone their manufacturing practices, create Digit at a lower cost, and pass some of these savings off to the customer. 2. V5 has a longer battery life compared to V4 by 35%. They will be able to work more hours while still charging the same monthly rate. This will bring down V5's average hourly rate from $18 to about $14.
