The team absolutely smashed it , thanks to everyone at Outerkind for bringing us in and having faith ,the production efficiency of NIYU with Claudia Tressler leading from the front, the techinical agility of Lucy Ockenden on @disguise_one , the lighting prowess of Rob Koenig, the infrastructure and organisational spine provided by @CreativeTechnol & TPN, of course our entire creative team ,notwithstanding the creative gymnastics and leadership by the 'Sorcerer from Sheppey', @danielgpotter and anyone else we forgot. This week Riyadh saw the big unveiling of our Esports World Cup 'Slope' set design and Showtime big-screen content package at the 2025 Esports World Cup Opening Ceremony in Boulevard City, Riyadh, for the flagship broadcast series EWC Spotlight, produced in partnership with IMG and the Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF). @EWC_EN Featuring a brand-infused triangular slope design with integrated EWC branding, event lighting programming, and triangle-inspired textures, the set was built by the Middle East office of @joelewiscompany (JLC) . We also crafted a modular graphics package to bring the environment to life, supporting IMG ’s hybrid live event-broadcast storytelling for Esports World Cup Foundation EWC Spotlight, a dynamic series showcasing the Esports World Cup’s thrilling tournaments to a global audience, brought to life by the EWCF’s vision for esports excellence. Our deliverables included an original set concept and a flexible 'After Dark Headliner' content package, designed to enable vibrant, large-scale live broadcast storytelling. Starting from early conversations and doodles with Broadcast Director Richard (Dickie) Day @dickieday79 in February 2025, CW transformed these ideas into a full concept and collaborated with @IMG, Kick512, and JLC to deliver a brand-centric physical and digital visual solution that complements EWC’s identity and thrives in Boulevard City’s unique environment. The concept was to craft an initial “gate-like” holding visual that was both a beautiful sealed door-like structure and a possessed, occasionally rattling entity, giving it a haunting, mysterious energy. 🎭 A Dark Journey 🎭 This opener wasn’t just about visuals; it was designed to be an audio-visual experience. The minute the lights went down the audience were thrown into an inescapable trip into nightmarish snapshots. We drew inspiration from Pandora's box and archetypal nightmares, creating a surreal, hallucinogenic particle world where the audience journeyed through powerful horrors—think screaming skulls, tentacles thrashing, sharks from the deep, and haunting symbols emerging from dark waters.💀 Dramatic Finale 💀The nightmare sequence concluded with our signature dramatic gun salute framing Mc Bob's customary announcement followed by an effervescently fizzing shark lunging at the crowd, setting the tone for a thrilling show ahead. Each detail was crafted to immerse the audience in a world of drama and excitement, keeping them on the edge of their seats from the first moment to the last.
