CA victim service providers rely on federal #VOCA funding, but with cuts looming, we need @cagovernor and #CALeg to support a state backfill so survivors of crime don’t experience a lack of essential services.
🧵 We are disappointed to see that @cagovernor did not include $200M in the #CABudget to support victims of crime. This lack of funding puts 400 programs across CA at risk of closing their doors, laying off staff, increasing wait times for essential services and so much more!
Karen Earl, CRDVN Lead & CEO of @JenesseCenter, testified before the Senate Public Safety Committee on AB 1028 (@AsmTinaMcKinnor) in July. This bill ensures survivors can access healthcare by creating a survivor-centered approach that limits mandated reports to law enforcement!
