On this day in 2001, Trailer Park Boys debuted on Showcase. It ran until 2008 on Showcase and 2014 to 2018 on Netflix. A massive hit, the show won a Canadian Comedy Award, three Geminis and earned two Canadian Screen Award nominations and six ACTRA Award nominations. The show spawned three movies, two Christmas specials, a streaming network, an animated show and another spinoff.

@CraigBaird The show came out when i was in grade 11 and we started watching it not knowing wtf it was, but every mondaY morning we'd come into the cafeteria and do nothing but quotes from last nights episode. So good.
@CraigBaird First time seen was part way through a episode during season 1 and thought what is this shit ? Watched from start the next episode and was hooked 😁🇨🇦

@CraigBaird Went to the screening of the original movie at the Oxford theatre back in 1999. I was laughing so hard, I cried. While we thought it was fantastic, wasn’t sure if people would get it. So thrilled for everyone when heard it was going to be picked up by Showcase.
