@wilsoncleaver @jon_merchant And compete with other companies in the area. How many jobs expect weekend work and overtime when needed while keeping on the same base salary? If you’re 16/17/18 looking for money to get driving lessons etc you’ll go to McDonald’s which is strict hours and more pay!

@wilsoncleaver @jon_merchant I saw a statistic that over 60% of Greenkeepers are now over 50 and closer to 60 years old, we are in desperate need for greenkeeping to be pushed as a profession and not just a job, also the pay needs to improve overall for it to become more appealing for apprenticeships,

⛳️Greens maintenance update⛳️ It’s now been a full week of recovery for our greens, it’s clear to see the full benefits of doing this in August while we have the perfect conditions for growth. Also nice to see the sand through the profile while changing holes this morning.

Hand watering with some help tonight. 🐶 With the golf course starting to dry up thanks to high winds and little rain, our approach this week will be less cutting, more watering and keeping on top of tree/hedge cutting.

Happy Easter! 🐣 51mm of rain since Thursday evening but today the course is open, greens have been cut and holding up well, more rain due tonight unfortunately, fingers crossed for the rest of the spring!

The 5th ‘bunker’ has now been turfed it’ll stay GUR for the next month or so. We have taken in the yellow markers today, they have been sanded and re painted they will be back out on the course by Thursday. We also finished bunker edging/re shaping today! Well done lads! 💪🏻

I’m pleased to say the course will be open tomorrow, it’s been a hard few months. Red and white Markers complete this morning ready for the season, look like new again!
