NASA’s Juno spacecraft captured this view of Thebe, the second largest of Jupiter’s inner moons, during a close pass on May 1, 2026.
Thebe is believed to play a role in the formation of the planet’s “gossamer” ring through the shedding of dust. Read more: go.nasa.gov/4uIqWpG
Earthset.
The Artemis II crew captured this view of an Earthset on April 6, 2026, as they flew around the Moon. The image is reminiscent of the iconic Earthrise image taken by astronaut Bill Anders 58 years earlier as the Apollo 8 crew flew around the Moon.
Good morning, world! 🌎
We have spectacular new high-resolution images of our home planet, all of us looking back through the Orion capsule window at our Artemis II astronauts as they continue their journey to the Moon.
@467Doggo Flowey is an evil character. Even after you spare him (despite his attempt to torture you for eternity), he manipulates and betrays you again. The only reason he is redeemed is because of magic basically turning him into a different person
@NASASolarSystem@NASAJPL@SwRI Is the Juno mission still operating? It was extended to September last year, but I never heard about a further mission extension
@HollowScholar@NASA@NASAJPL If you look at the website DSN now, which tracks the missions nasa is using radio dishes to communicate with, it shows them receiving data from Juno. So it seems like it's still operational and they have some amount of funding to maintain it until a decision is made

Hope you didn't blink!
On Sept. 23, @NASA's OSIRIS-APEX spacecraft made a quick flyby, passing 2,136 miles above Earth. Along the way, OSIRIS-APEX turned to look home.

@NASASolarSystem 3i atlas is only a mile across, this photo was from 20 million miles away. What did you all expect? That's the same as taking a photo of an object 1/500 of an inch from a mile away

@ExpertsLie@david_kipping People are very willing to talk about these ideas, it's when people take these ideas to be true that aatronomers get frustrated. Avi loeb seems to be pushing this narrative in a bad faith way, intentionally misrepresenting images and data. He surely knows that image is phobos
@JamesInSWGA It's thanks to republicans that the mission is facing cancellation in the first place. The White House is desperate to cancel it and as many nasa missions as possible, congress wants to fund it. Whatever suits your fantasy world i guess
@daxhaunts I really wish this new Asriel dialogue was in the game. It makes the ending hit a lot harder, even without the context of the time that's passed in real life
