This is an email I sent earlier today to all employees at Coinbase: Team, Today I’ve made the difficult decision to reduce the size of Coinbase by ~14%. I want to walk you through why we're doing this now, what it means for those affected, and how this positions us for the future. Why now Two forces are converging at the same time. We need to be front footed to respond to both. First, the market. Coinbase is well-capitalized, has diversified revenue streams, and is well-positioned to weather any storm. Crypto is also on the verge of the next wave of adoption, with stablecoins, prediction markets, tokenization, and more taking off. However, our business is still volatile from quarter to quarter. While we've managed through that cyclicality many times before and come out stronger on the other side, we’re currently in a down market and need to adjust our cost structure now so that we emerge from this period leaner, faster, and more efficient for our next phase of growth. Second, AI is changing how we work. Over the past year, I’ve watched engineers use AI to ship in days what used to take a team weeks. Non-technical teams are now shipping production code and many of our workflows are being automated. The pace of what's possible with a small, focused team has changed dramatically, and it's accelerating every day. All of this has led us to an inflection point, not just for Coinbase, but for every company. The biggest risk now is not taking action. We are adjusting early and deliberately to rebuild Coinbase to be lean, fast, and AI-native. We need to return to the speed and focus of our startup founding, with AI at our core. What this means To get there, we are not just reducing headcount and cutting costs, we’re fundamentally changing how we operate: rebuilding Coinbase as an intelligence, with humans around the edge aligning it. What does this mean in practice? - Fewer layers, faster decisions: We are flattening our org structure to 5 layers max below CEO/COO. Layers slow things down and create coordination tax. The future is small, high context teams that can move quickly. Leaders will own much more, with as many as 15+ direct reports. Fewer layers also means a leaner cost structure that is built to perform through all market cycles. - No pure managers: Every leader at Coinbase must also be a strong and active individual contributor. Managers should be like player-coaches, getting their hands dirty alongside their teams. - AI-native pods: We’ll be concentrating around AI-native talent who can manage fleets of agents to drive outsized impact. We’ll also be experimenting with reduced pod sizes, including “one person teams” with engineers, designers, and product managers all in one role. In short: AI is bringing a profound shift in how companies operate, and we’re reshaping Coinbase to lead in this new era. This is a new way of working, and we need to leverage AI across every facet of our jobs. To those who are affected I know there are real people behind these decisions — talented colleagues who have poured themselves into this company and our mission. To those of you who will be leaving: thank you. You’ve helped build Coinbase into what it is today, and I am sincerely grateful for everything you've done. All impacted team members will receive an email to their personal account in the next hour with more information, and an invitation to meet with an HRBP and a senior leader in your organization. Coinbase system access has been removed today. I know this feels sudden and harsh, but it is the only responsible choice given our duty to protect customer information. To those affected, we will be providing a comprehensive package to support you through this transition. US employees will receive a minimum of 16 weeks base pay (plus 2 weeks per year worked), their next equity vest, and 6 months of COBRA. Employees on a work visa will get extra transition support. Those outside of the US will receive similar support, based on local factors and subject to any consultation requirements. Coinbase prides itself on talent density. Our employees are among the most talented people in the world, and I have no doubt that your skills and experience will be highly sought after as you pursue your next chapters. How we move forward To the team that is staying, I know this is a difficult day. We’re saying goodbye to colleagues and friends you've been in the trenches with. But here’s what I want you to know as we move forward together: Over the past 13 years, we have weathered four crypto winters, gone public, and built the most trusted platform in our industry. We’ve made it this far by making hard decisions and by always staying focused on our mission. This time will be no different – nothing has changed about the long term outlook of our company or industry. And most importantly, our mission has never been more important for the world. my honest thoughts after using openclaw/moltbot/clawdbot: after 24 hrs of usage i dont use it anymore for anything genuinely serious just use claude code/codex directly, hosted on a server if i want on-the-go work openclaw uses tokens like a mf and it is NOT efficient at all you also should not be connecting personal services/apis together in one bot you should be taking security seriously and isolating each service with different ai systems you do NOT want to infect sensitive information in an agent that can also access the web or social media (like, moltbook, which is accessible via an api call lol) it’s great for prototyping though! but again, claude code can easily do these prototypes solo next i will be experimenting with kimi k2.5 on the regular claude agent SDK on isolated sandboxes and see how that performs!

Now that ZKEVMs are at alpha stage (production-quality performance, remaining work is safety) and PeerDAS is live on mainnet, it's time to talk more about what this combination means for Ethereum. These are not minor improvements; they are shifting Ethereum into being a fundamentally new and more powerful kind of decentralized network. To see why, let's look at the two major types of p2p network so far: BitTorrent (2000): huge total bandwidth, highly decentralized, no consensus Bitcoin (2009): highly decentralized, consensus, but low bandwidth - because it’s not “distributed” in the sense of work being split up, it’s *replicated* Now, Ethereum with PeerDAS (2025) and ZK-EVMs (expect small portions of the network using it in 2026), we get: decentralized, consensus and high bandwidth The trilemma has been solved - not on paper, but with live running code, of which one half (data availability sampling) is *on mainnet today*, and the other half (ZK-EVMs) is *production-quality on performance today* - safety is what remains. This was a 10-year journey (see the first commit of my original post on DAS here: github.com/ethereum/resea… , and ZK-EVM attempts started in ~2020), but it's finally here. Over the next ~4 years, expect to see the full extent of this vision roll out: * In 2026, large non-ZKEVM-dependent gas limit increases due to BALs and ePBS, and we'll see the first opportunities to run a ZKEVM node * In 2026-28, gas repricings, changes to state structure, exec payload going into blobs, and other adjustments to make higher gas limits safe * In 2027-30, large further gas limit increases, as ZKEVM becomes the primary way to validate blocks on the network A third piece of this is distributed block building. A long-term ideal holy grail is to get to a future where the full block is *never* constituted in one single place. This will not be necessary for a long time, but IMO it is worth striving for us at least have the capability to do that. Even before that point, we want the meaningful authority in block building to be as distributed as possible. This can be done either in-protocol (eg. maybe we figure out how to expand FOCIL to make it a primary channel for txs), or out-of-protocol with distributed builder marketplaces. This reduces risk of centralized interference with real-time transaction inclusion, AND it creates a better environment for geographical fairness. Onward.

Case study: A side-by-side look at how two world leaders are presented on @Wikipedia. One leader is the democratically elected president of the United States: Donald Trump. The other is the unelected "Supreme Leader" of Iran who has directed some of the 21st century's most egregious human rights abuses—including the murder of mass jailing of his political opponents: Ayatollah Khamenei. Wikipedia goes to great lengths to label one of them an "authoritarian"—yet makes no mention of the term in the other case. The problem is that who gets the "authoritarian" label is inverted. On Wikipedia's Donald Trump entry, the term "authoritarian" is used 13 times (including citations). This isn't incidental, or organic. Instead, it's part of an extensive, months-long campaign to label Trump as both an authoritarian and a fascist. Much of the sourcing for this claim is based on just a handful of articles from left-wing news outlets and far-left academic journals. In one case, Wikipedia editors cite an article in @guardian that references a @Harvard professor. What it doesn't disclose is that this professor serves as an advisor to a think tank run by a former Obama White House official that has made pushing the "Trump authoritarian" message a key plank in its ongoing activism What about the Ali Khamenei entry? There is no mention whatsoever of the term "authoritarian." Why? The top editor on the Ali Khamenei article by number of edits is an Iranian academic who has spent dozens of hours removing any mention of human rights abuses committed by the Khamenei regime from Wikipedia. This is an entry that has been Wiki-washed—scrubbed clean and laundered to present a completely different picture to the world than the reality on the ground. This information gets fed into Google and the LLMs shaping our future. The balance is evident—and the receipts are there for all to see. The stop loss paradox: You use stops to protect yourself. But stops have a hidden cost. Every stop is a guaranteed loss. You cap your downside. But you also guarantee many small losses. Meanwhile your winners need time to develop. Tight stops kill winners early. Loose stops let losers destroy you. Most traders never figure out the balance. Here's how to fix it: Step 1: Check how much the asset moves daily. Step 2: Set your stop outside that range. Step 3: Reduce position size so the wider stop doesn't kill you. Example: Asset moves 1% daily on average (ADR). Don't use a 0.5% stop. You'll get chopped by normal noise. Use a 2% stop. Cut your size to a quarter. Same dollar risk. Way better odds. Stop losses work. But only if you size them to the market correctly.

OK . ➡️ Pourtant quand on a la chance d’avoir un logement neuf payé par la collectivité à 80 % se plaindre de ne pas avoir accès à la salle de sport, n’est-ce pas abuser ? C’est le problème de l’argent magique. On n’en n’a jamais assez.

Putain mais posez-vous les bonnes questions à la fin. Mais vous ne vous demandez jamais comment on arrive à financer 42 logements? Pour acheter 42 biens, il lui a fallu : des heures de recherche, des banques à convaincre, des garanties à apporter, du capital accumulé, des travaux, des risques, et maintenant… des procédures à 3 500€, 1 050€ d’huissier, 19 600€ d’impayés. Evidemment, quand on n’a jamais créé de richesse, qu’on ne sait pas ce qu’est un bilan, un projet, un risque financier, un locataire, un prestataire… Pour vous l'Economie est un gâteau fixe qu’on doit “partager”. Vous ne comprenez rien à la création de valeur. Vous ne comprenez rien à la prise de risque. Vos pensées vont uniquement vers la redistribution, le ressentiment et l’idée débile que “posséder = abus”. Le vrai abus, ce n’est pas de posséder 42 logements. Le vrai abus, c’est de commenter l’économie quand on n’en a jamais rencontré la réalité. Avant de critiquer ceux qui construisent, créez quelque chose. Vous verrez que la “rente”, c’est surtout du travail que vous n’avez jamais fait.

There is no “4-year crypto cycle.” Each cycle depends on the business cycle. Right now, the ISM PMI, a key business cycle indicator, has struggled to stay above 50 for 3 years. The main reason is that financial conditions have remained rather tight with rates, DXY and oil sitting higher for longer. Until liquidity returns, risk assets will stay muted.
