Parents: If there’s ONE video you watch on social media today. Please let it be this one: Frank Martin discusses parents attempting to coach their kids from the sidelines.
@CoachLisle @bbnick3125 Your title is little misleading. It should be listen to what he says about officials which is right on. If a parent knows the game then nothing wrong with giving his/ her own kid some helpful tips. Many coaches today need extra help.
@CoachLisle @3YearLetterman You got any takes on this situation? How do you deal with coaching from the stands?
@CoachLisle @justin_golba Martin’s comments are under the assumption that all coaches know what they are doing, many don’t. Even from a club and high school level. When parents ask coaches questions, many get defensive.
@CoachLisle Also applies to teachers…If parents can teach their children how to be coachable I am immensley more effective as a teacher
@CoachLisle One of my all time favorite clips. @StRoseBB late longtime Coach Bob Bellizzi would come to his son’s Alex’s games, watch respectfully, cheer for all kids, and say thanks after the game. He knew 10,000 times more than me about the game, but would never coach from the crowd.
@CoachLisle As a parent who has volunteer coached over 40 seasons of youth sports, I have to say, this made me feel seen and got me a bit emotional . 1000percent every bit of this. Every bit. Wish everyone could hear and remember this message.
@CoachLisle @rich_lori That coach would be amazed at the abuse teenaged refs and ARs get at a U10 soccer game. Adults screaming at some poor 15 y/o over a called or non-called foul or out of bounds. It is unreal.
