In perhaps the greatest example of the hall’s utter irrelevance and stupidity, on this date in 2015, #GreenDay was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a part of the 2015 class, in their first year of eligibility. Meanwhile bands like #Styx, #Kansas, #BostonBand, #Foreigner, #IronMaiden and #BadCompany have not been inducted. 🤣 #RRHOF
@ClassicGuitarR1 Green Day are an important band in punk rock. I’m not going to bother listing all the reasons why but they are. Iron Maiden should have been in years ago.
@AlphenMatthias I have nothing against them, but IMO they aren’t even close to the same league as the bands I mentioned who are still waiting for induction.
@ClassicGuitarR1 @AlphenMatthias I agree with you on most points, but I don’t think Green Day over Kansas is that crazy. Green Day over Iron Maiden on the other hand….yikes.
@ClassicGuitarR1 Considering your account is called Classic Guitar Rock, I’m not even going to get into a discussion about it. However, Iron Maiden aside, those other bands you mentioned were very commercial type bands who never really released an album that critically moved the needle.
@ClassicGuitarR1 @AlphenMatthias You are just old.
@ClassicGuitarR1 @AlphenMatthias Foreigner should be in there no excuses especially considering having Lou Gramm one of the greatest rock and roll vocalists of all time. 🎤🇺🇸🌎🇦🇺🥰
@ClassicGuitarR1 @AlphenMatthias Ehh I love classic rock but “rock music” is bigger than just the 70s All those bands you listed are great and have many of my favorite songs but Green Day impact on what became a pretty big rock sub genre in the late 90s and 2000s is pretty undeniable
@ClassicGuitarR1 @AlphenMatthias The faagaloons in Green Day aren't even worthy of cleaning lars's drum pedals.
@ClassicGuitarR1 @AlphenMatthias Absolutely. They had an “impact”, but were still a flash in the pan compared to some of the classic rock bands like you mentioned.
@ClassicGuitarR1 @AlphenMatthias That’s bc you’re biased to the genre that you grew up listening to. Green Day blows away all of those bands if you look at the impact they had on the totality of rock and roll. And it’s not even close. You can prefer them, but that doesn’t make their impact greater.
