Here's why the Mayor of Baltimore is not a "DEI hire": - A "DEI hire" is someone who was hired, selected, appointed or promoted due to race / identity politics rather than merit, and therefore isn't qualified for the position. - The qualifications for Mayor of Baltimore are: At least 25 years old, resident of Baltimore, registered voter, and winner of the election. The current Mayor of Baltimore obviously meets these requirements. If you follow me, you know I vehemently oppose DEI and the broader ESG agenda. That's why I think it's important to use our words precisely and not muddy the waters. If everything is "DEI," then nothing is, and the word loses its power. Similar to how the Left started calling everyone "racist" and ultimately made the word meaningless.
It’s not “DEI hiring” when Provo elects Mormons, Miami elects Cubans, or Brighton Beach elects Russian Jews to be their representatives. That’s politics. And it’s also not “DEI hiring” if a majority black city elects a black mayor. People vote for many different reasons, but whoever wins the election is the legitimate mayor. Criticize politicians for what they do… if you criticize them for innate characteristics, that’s just playing identity politics.
@ChristinaPushaw He’s not DEI but he is unqualified and in way over his head.
@ChristinaPushaw was he selected over other candidates by the voters based on his race?
@ChristinaPushaw Suddenly all mayors of major leftist cities are black. But you make a good point.
@ChristinaPushaw Fair enough! People may prefer DEI kind of candidates, but that is their choice and it has to be respected.
