Morning light therapy can have a powerful antidepressant effect. So powerful, in fact, that it can cause a switch into hypomania in some people with bipolar disorder. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.111…
@ChrisPalmerMD I am a little confused. Is this red light treatment?
@ChrisPalmerMD Morning walks for everyone! Hopefully the weather gets better
@ChrisPalmerMD I can’t sleep with the curtains closed because it negatively impacts my mood for the rest of the day.
The interaction between light exposure and mental health is indeed fascinating and underscores the complexity of treating mood disorders. Light therapy, as highlighted, offers an intriguing non-pharmacological intervention for depression, yet its impact on those with bipolar disorder illustrates the delicate balance required in therapeutic approaches. Such nuances in treatment underline the importance of personalized medicine, where interventions are tailored to the individual's specific condition and response patterns. @ChrisPalmerMD I’ve used 15 minutes of sitting in front of a 10,000 lumen lamp first thing in the morning and found it helpful. When I tried it later (anytime after 9 am), I couldn’t fall asleep that night. Similar feeling as consuming too much caffeine that day, but no jitters.
@ChrisPalmerMD I'm not surprised by this, I have a tendency towards hypomania in spring time, no longer a problem but still a noticeable difference.
@ChrisPalmerMD For me it helps for my depression....took it few days ago
