@screamqueen084 @thederbyapex Leagues are dying and WFTDA is demanding dues payments while simultaneously preventing RTP. Not a good look for WFTDA.

@thederbyapex Except that the cat is well and truly out of the bag. Everything is opening back up. There’s no going back to quarantine. We’ve done our part, but with every other sport/ activity back at it, keeping derby locked up has no appreciable impact on pandemic response.

@thederbyapex “If your national, provincial, state, or local guidelines permit full return to play for other contact sports, you may return to play per those guidelines. If you are fully vaccinated, you may return to play immediately.” Done.

@thederbyapex How is that the crux? Just change the guidelines to comport with a league's national, state, or local guidelines? WFTDA doesn't have an issue with derby in New Zealand. At least let fully vaccinated skaters return without restrictions.

@thederbyapex If everyone is back to life as normal, then the ship has sailed on "stopping the virus" through restrictions. All WFTDA is accomplishing at this point is killing off leagues and driving skaters to different derby organization or different sports.

@thederbyapex Sorry, but I can't agree with this take. WFTDA is so far behind the curve on RTP. Literally every other recreational sport is back at it, at least here in the US. Several states have fully reopened and more are set to do so within the next few weeks.

@thederbyapex Those states are going to quit tracking the metrics the WFTDA guidelines are based on. But none of this really blew up until the WFTDA passed on updating guidelines are Skate of the Union, and instead dropped a self-congratulatory social media post about their 1100 downloads.
