Welcome everyone to the Chatbot UI beta! We are working hard to polish our current features and add new ones. Expect much more soon!
Welcome to the new 5,233 people that joined while I was asleep! We have a *lot* coming in terms of improvements and features as we wrap up our beta this month. We’re working on a bug reporting system and better guides on how to use Chatbot UI. More polish & features every day.
With Chatbot UI you can use 100+ models in the same chat experience. Watch me use Mistral 8x7b via Groq and then switch to the new Claude 3 Opus. Any model. One interface.
Chatbot UI overhaul drops next week. It’s honestly really, really good. Powerful & polished. And as always, 100% open-source.
Chatbot UI does hundreds of thousands of api requests per day. Fun opportunity to help build for something that reaches a ton of people via open source.
If anyone wants an ambitious project to work on, we’re looking into adding this to Chatbot UI to support more models.

We merged in 12+ PRs this morning that should fix quite a few bugs & usability issues. Next up is an improvement to the import/export system that includes being able to import prompts. We plan on implementing a sharing system to make it super easy to share chats & prompts!

We pushed a massive refactor! Shoutout to our community member @foolishsailor for spearheading this effort. Development should be a lot cleaner now going forward. Normal PR reviews will resume.
Key changes are: 1) Making components more modular. 2) Fixing the prop drilling mess. Code will be significantly cleaner which means it will be easier to maintain and add to.
Important Update… We’re doing a *major* architecture change to make Chatbot UI much easier to develop and contribute to. We recommend pausing all contributions until this change goes through, as it drastically changes the structure of the code. Be back soon with better code!
Alex got Alpaca.cpp running locally with Chatbot UI. Chatting directly with LLM models running locally on your own device has begun.

If you are looking for a great PR opportunity we would love a change to the import system that *adds* data to your previous data instead of replacing it.
We now have support for importing/exporting prompts! Import/export “conversations” is now import/export “data.”
Open source for our Italian friends 🇮🇹
Italy just banned ChatGPT. You know what they can’t ban? Open source code. This is why Chatbot UI exists. If they can’t access ChatGPT, then they can use our UI with an API key for the same experience.
The issues with Chatbot UI & OpenAI have been resolved. Huge thanks to their team for the quick response and the clarity on what happened. OpenAI was *exceptionally* helpful here, and it’s very important to me that you all know that. Now… back to building!
