@theRazbuten It really depends on my understanding of how the story was valued during production. Not to sound cliché, but story was clearly a priority for Witcher 3 from the beginning, where story wasn’t part of Horizon until later. I wish it was better, but I get why it is the way it is.
@michaeltuckerla Every part of the game was used to explore those themes in different ways and it didn’t stray very far from it’s core ideas. Made the whole thing feel complete.
@michaeltuckerla For me it’s how the all stories explored a select set of themes in different ways. The main quest explored what CDPR believed was good parenting. The side quests explored that sometimes people are the real monsters, and not every action has an entirely good outcome.
Feel free to call me out if I ever do this, but does anyone else get tired of YT video essays titled some variation of “masterpiece”? “It’s no masterpiece” “Almost a masterpiece” “A forgotten masterpiece” I just immediately roll my eyes.

@CinnamonGhoul Hellblade had more interesting puzzles. Can’t say the same for the combat. They both use the Norse mythology to tell emotional stories with completely different goals.

@GilesPink I just watched this over the weekend! Super insightful, especially how mafia 3 players tried to treat all of their gang members fairly, even though it meant missing out on advanced skills.

@LegitimatNoodle Coming from someone who’s wrapping up the books, I just finished the show and it checked a lot of boxes for me. If you’re looking for the feel of the games tho I’d say at least finish episode 3.
