I've went over this many times. I understand what Tim is trying to say, and he is correct in saying that there really are 2 categories of Jews: those who accept Jesus Christ and those who reject Jesus Christ, and the latter are the Synagogue of Satan, and technically "fake Jews" spiritually, even though they are Jews according to the flesh. That being said, as Catholics we follow the Tradition given to us by the Church Fathers. And the Church Fathers, without exception, simply call the unbelieving Jews of the flesh — the Synagogue of Satan — "the Jews". So none of the Church Fathers EVER make the distinction tim is asking for. Like St. John, they simply use "the Jews" when criticizing the unbelieving Jews; the same as Dr. E. Michael Jones, I, and many others do. So even though I understand what Tim is saying, the way we understand this equivocal term (yes, it is equivocal, not univocal) is through CONTEXT. CONTEXT is the important thing here. That's why in my Adversus Judaeos resources, I don't just have Church Fathers quotes out of context, but I pull WHOLE PARAGRAPHS with the different quotes on "the Jews" so people can understand the CONTEXT when it comes to how the writer is using the term "the Jews" to understand if the writer is criticizing unbelieving Jews of the flesh vs praising believing Jews of both the flesh and the spirit, whom were referred to as "Christians" or "Catholics" generally by the Fathers, and rarely identified as "Jewish Christians" or "Hebrew Catholics" or some other modern term to distinguish Jews of the flesh who believe in Jesus Christ in the Catholic Church.
