Dell’s RTO policy includes a rule that you can’t get promoted or apply to new roles at the company unless you come into the office. Effectively being a remote worker traps you in that role and level until you switch to hybrid or fully onsite. 🤯 ca.movies.yahoo.com/movies/dell-wo…
@Carnage4Life They’re looking for people to resign. And if enough don’t, here come more layoffs
@Carnage4Life Practically.... When you're ready to level up, why wouldn't you just look externally if your company has a policy like this?
@Carnage4Life A lot of people want to just clock in/clock out, and that's what they're encouraging. They think they're punishing or encouraging employees, but the company suffers with a policy like this.
@Carnage4Life They’re really threatening them with a good time.
@Carnage4Life This thought process/execution will continue Why would you change a policy that lead you to be one of the biggest companies in the world? Downside is - you’re not gonna be able to keep/retain, the best, new (younger) talent
@Carnage4Life What companies are admitting is that they have no way of determining the output / performance of an individual employees other than measuring them by their physical presence in the office. Shareholders should sue.
@Carnage4Life Hybrid is the best model tbh. Why would you wanna be fully remote. I like talking to and meeting my co workers in moderate doses. The hybrid model definitely works.
Hypothesis: In India some of us would prefer it NGL, if we had an option as long as you keep giving me inflation beating hikes a lot of people do not realize that it also helps manage expectations better because now you appear superior to your colleagues at some designation mostly because of more years there it can be boring as per Mihaly's flow channel, because you are more skilled than the challenge at your level because the experience compounds but it gives you buffer for other things in life while giving exceptional ROI to the company, they pay less than what your skill level is if you are working on your mental health or physical health, this is a welcome break from the race to the top, at least for a few years I am playing this game since a couple of years now to improve my mental health, and such a break is a low-drama low-risk version of burn-out sabbaticals and it appears to be working to repeat: - you have a more soothing experience because you know how to do the job in fewer hours & less stress - your employer finds you more valuable per $ salary, because your skills & maturity is higher than your peers
@Carnage4Life Who would want to work at Dell?
@Carnage4Life Remember the revenue doesn't count if you don't make it from a different arbitrary building. Because ....reasons
