Honestly folks on the right should be all over this. William F Buckley was. His intellectual mentor Albert Jay Nock was. Friedman was. LVT is in large part about freeing entrepreneurs from government taxation that restricts economic activity.
Land Value Tax™️ should be rebranded because it’s fundamentally not about taxation. It’s about freedom from taxation of our work and property. Freedom from high land rent/price most have to pay just to live, move, and be. Maybe we should call it the Freedom Tax 😂 🧵

Rent is the difference in productivity between any given piece of land and the least productive vacant land that is viable to use. LVT incentivises efficient land use (less sprawl). With less productive but viable sites free, rent differential falls — and so rents.

@TonyClofton2 @MassFiscal A land value tax is not a communist policy, it rewards the highest and best use of a fixed resource. Phasing out income taxes encourages people to work. Many of the best free market economists like Milton Friedman have favored the land value tax over any other tax.
land value tax would destroy monopoly & encourage free enterprise to blossom by shifting the value of monopolist's privilege to society. the result would be an end of ills emanating from speculation. lvt offers a way of destroying privilege & bringing back economic opportunity.
The goal of taxation policy is to a) obtain sufficient revenue to operate vital government functions, b) not harm the economic activity that is the basis for the tax, and c) not exacerbate inequality net of taxes and spending. The land value tax achieves all three of these aims.
This means the failure of governments to levy a land value tax only serves to funnel money into the pockets of landowners for no economic reason, since landowners need no money to supply land, unlike workers who need money to supply their labor for products and services.

If LVT = free money, it can then be asked of lawmakers "why would you choose to not make use of a revenue source that comes at no cost to your constituent's economic well-being? Why deliberately choose revenue sources that cause lower wages, unemployment, and inflation?"
