I had so many people hating when I said sign him now, but I lived this. This is the type of accountability and atmosphere a player of his caliber needs. Playing there, you know there’s no time for BS effort that you saw at times in SD. there’s an expectation as a player you respect because of how invested every single person in the city and stadium is. You can feel that energy and you can tell Soto loves it and is thriving!
@CameronMaybin San Diego is a friendly fan base with a lot of energy. You would have thought that Soto would thrive playing along side his buddies Machado and Tatis jr, but it never happened. San Diego wasn't the problem the problem was in Soto's head.
@CameronMaybin Whether the Yankees want to sign him or not now is irrelevant. He’s going to free agency. He’s said as much and so has Boras.
@CameronMaybin Juan Soto is the classic tale of a good person leaving a toxic relationship and thriving with someone new
@CameronMaybin What are you trying to say about Padres fans?
@CameronMaybin I was totally wrong, 😑 I thought maybe would not be a good fit, also the issues you mentioned. I am happy he found a place to thrive.
@CameronMaybin I agree 100% but I have to ask you since you’ve been there, do you truly believe that a player like Soto would ever consider signing an extension without testing FA? I don’t see that ever happening and I fear they will cheap out and he walks.
@CameronMaybin SD had the 2nd best attendance in majors. Soto’s problem was he was not the most loved superstar behind Manny & Tatis. He did nothing to improve his image. Fielding was terrible, base running was terrible and few clutch hits and lots of walks.
