Cal OES Director Caroline Thomas Jacobs provides an update on the coordinated whole-of-government response to the Orange County chemical incident. While the risk of a catastrophic explosion has passed, the threat of a smaller explosion or chemical leak remains. Cal OES remains closely engaged with local partners to support the ongoing response and reminds those still impacted by evacuation orders to listen to local authorities.

We have requested that President Trump issue an emergency declaration to support response operations in Orange County. For more than 48 hours, @Cal_OES and state agencies have been on the ground supporting impacted communities, protecting public safety, and assisting local officials as response efforts continue. Please continue following guidance from emergency officials.
SR-39 northbound and southbound will also be closed from Trask Avenue to Ball Road.
#TrafficUpdate: Eastbound SR-22 off-ramp at Valleyview is now open. The westbound off-ramp at Valleyview, and off-ramps to Beach Boulevard and Knott Avenue in both directions, will remain closed until further notice. Follow @OCFireAuthority for updates on this situation.
