@nidoneru__zzz 3. Fcitx has default no preedit apps list which is a workaround for app can't notify IM that preedit is not supported. 4. Ctrl+Alt+P allows user to switch preedit off at runtime. But, it won't make "preedit unsupported" APP, like wps, to magically support preedit.

@nidoneru__zzz A few details: 1. Qt, from framework API wise, doesn't provide an API to notify whether it supports preedit or not. Comparing to Gtk, gtk as gtk_im_context_set_use_preedit. 2. Due to qt im module can only assume preedit is supported, even though wps, doesn't. (cont.)

@kenhys the upstream on fcitx side is fcitx/mozc (branch fcitx) fcitx-contrib/fcitx5-mozc was used for fcitx5 on mac and using cmake, the cmake build may not necssarily work for linux.

@kenhys for the offline mozc build based on bazel, github.com/fcitx/flatpak-… has an implementation for that if you are interested. for cmake buildsystem for mozc, there are two different implementation, but can't really say they are tracking the head. github.com/fcitx/mozc-cma…

@mattn_jp while XIC doesn't create much memory overhead on client itself, the input method server will have to allocate corresponding memory to have the matching state. Similarly when you create window on X11 and client only get an window ID, but X server still need to manage the state.
