Here is what is supposedly "UK" democracy. England holds the majority of seats, controls the political parties which have formed the UK Govt, it has every significant power of value, which cant be overruled by the other 3 nations they granted DEVO to - but never gave to itself.
Like the old K-Tel adverts once said, "but thats not all". The electoral franchise used for Westminster is what is called First Past The Post - it the de facto standard of "democracy". But in the devolved Parliaments, they dont use it, not only that but by maths cant change it.
What is used there is what is called Partial and Modified D'Hondt - alongside FPTP for Constituency vote, and the regional list making up half the seats using D'Hondt. Lets say Scotland wants to change that, either a Govt elected to, or by referendum.
You would think that it would be simple to change Holyrood's electoral franchise to repeat that of Westminster's, after all Tories and Labour are elected on it in England - and you would be wrong. A party cannot be elected to do it. The people cannot demand a referendum on it.
In order to change it then it must be by a free vote in the chamber. Must have a super majority of 66% of the vote. In other words about half the chamber, from three political parties ran by, for, and from a foreign country must be the metaphorical Turkeys voting for Christmas.
The regional list, which is predominately almost all of the aforementioned politicians, them rejected in the constituency vote, will on delivering either pure PR replacing D'Hondt, or in repeating FPTP - their "reward" would be a P45. But thats not all, thats phase 1.
Lets say the unachievable maths happens, the 66% vote delivered. Then it needs Westminster, and the Lords(unelected politicians) agreeing to it - without amendment or prevention. And lastly Royal assent. The maths are not only impossible, but colonial in intent.
But thats not the only fuck off Westminster has imparted on Scotland, electorally. There's also in local Govt too, the single transferrable vote - instead of PR. A franchise that favours unionism, thus protects the union - that English councils somehow DONT USE.
Nor will STV, PR, or partial and modified model be used in the much touted Federal UK model either at least in the case for England. What the UK is therefore is a very modern interpretation of what is old colonialism, our being administered by what is a foreign country.
In England deciding our devolution for us, not having had its own devolution identical to what is imparted on Scotland, Wales, and NI - what we have outside of England is thus a one nation pseudo political neo colonial "democratic" dictatorship little better than USSR/China/NK.
Add to that that EVERY political party which has been elected is ran by, for, and from England - thus on its terms, its mandate, its supremacy remaining... Then a federal UK, a 4th level of Governance, renders Scotland, Wales, and NI no longer "nations" but English Shires.
I agree England needs its own Devolution, it in the manner of its subordinate nations, where it can see for itself that the problem is not that which is foreign to it, be it sponging Scots, whining Welsh, or immigrants.. It needs it to see it too is ruled, but doesn't know it.
