The rush to silence Black women is a condition that never budged, through the entire uprising & winding down. There was violence against Black women the whole way through. In the movement, there was violence against Black women multiple times. The rates of femicides rose sharply
The movement didn't take a collective pause for the murder of #OluwatoyinSalau & ask why tf BM are murdering BW. Femicide rate went from every 8 hrs to every 6 hrs. Sometimes 4. A BW in my village was murdered. I organized a march for her & other victims of Black Femicide 9/4/21.
If the conditions Black women were in didn't change..but worsened..why would bloodsuckers attracted to the lucrative business of Black death, w/ money & resources, respect BW from their outset? Ppl set up shop & erased Black women. Hawked angry flicks of us to wealthy buyers.
Told us to stfu about it, anytime we spoke up. Shrugged & justified police murder when it came to #MakhiaBryant. Tried to keep us in check. Cursed at us & assaulted us in front of our children. A Black impacted Mother AND BW organizer. Then wondered why we weren't fuzzy anymore
The world is mad at us for not being what they never gave us the safe space to be: soft, quiet, etc. I just keep coming to the conclusion "Y'all are f.. crazy." At this point, Black women need to collectively strap up. Follow @blackfemicideUS & come out of the idealist mindset.
