It’s 34-13 Michigan with 3:37 to play! What a dominant display by the team that held the top spot in the strength rating composite for the second half of the year!
Michigan with the interception on 4th and 13 and this one is over! Michigan returns the ball inside the 10 and has goal to go for a 3 score lead with 4:29 to play! The title is within grasp!!
Washington finally hits a chunk play! Still need a TD plus a stop to get a shot.

Lots of punts makes for a less than exciting game, but Washington definitely missed an opportunity on their last possession, when a big pass play finally connected, only to be wiped out by a holding call.
Washington misses on a pair of deep shots and Michigan takes over at the 6. Washington has yet to hit a play over 20 yards and does not seem capable of sustaining drives right now. That’s likely the Michigan strategy at this point.

Washington converts the field goal and it’s back to a 7 point game. Michigan has not meaningfully moved the ball since early in the first quarter, so it’s highly possible Washington will get the ball back with a chance to tie.
Well that could have gone better for Washington, but the damage of a first play turnover was limited by the field goal. Still, it’s a 10 point lead and Washington can ill afford to let it get to a 3 score game.
17-10 at the half! All model results still in play, but those leaning Michigan’s way aligned quite well with what we saw on the field. Washington has done well to be down only 7, but at the same time, they missed an open TD and could have been tied! Great game so far!

Second time Michigan has run an unsuccessful out rout when they could have run the ball. The inability to consistently pass and the decision to continue to try has allowed Washington to stay alive.
Another Washington 3 and out that never had a chance. A big sack on 1st down and unable to make up the difference. Now will Michigan rediscover the ground game dominance?

Here's how the 81 Strength Rating Systems felt the top 4 should have been filled out. Any argument in favor of Alabama because they are the stronger team than Florida St should also find some sort of alignment with this data. Only 2 teams were in the top 4 >50% Michigan Ohio St.
