When an electric current flows through the brain, as in #ECT, electrical energy is converted into heat, raising the temperature. The larger the current, the more heat is produced. If the temperature gets too high the cells suffer temporary injury, permanent damage, or even death.
When a #psychiatrist recommends #ECT, the patient can't give informed consent. Why not? Because psychiatrists don't understand the laws of electricity or how it affects the body and don't tell the patient about the brain damage inflicted when they press the button. #mentalhealth

Informed consent: 'permission granted in full knowledge of the possible consequences, typically that which is given by a patient to a doctor for treatment with knowledge of the possible risks and benefits.' What are under-18s being told when they are prescribed #antidepressants?
A common symptom of withdrawal from #antidepressants is the return of the symptoms the drug was supposed to treat. #Psychiatrists commonly tell you this is the "return of the mental illness." It's not. This is withdrawal, an indication of addiction or dependency. #mentalhealth
Media reports have stated the only #antidepressant withdrawal helpline in England is to close. This follows on from media reports yesterday of record numbers of under-18s taking antidepressants. There appears to be more focus on people taking the drugs than coming off the drugs.

Let's make it clear: "Bipolar disorder" is just a clinical buzzword for any sort of mood instability psychiatrists want to treat. Seizure medications are often prescribed--blunt instruments defined by their suppression of nerve hyperactivity, also used for pain and anxiety.
Historically bipolar or manic depressive illness was rare. Around 85% of documented cases were single episodes. Now this label is attached to any & all mood dysregulation w/ people placed on a cocktail of psychiatric drugs FOR LIFE. Don't even get me started on Bipolar II.

Side effects of #psychiatric drugs can sometimes be more pronounced than the intended effects. They are the body’s natural response to the invasion of a chemical that speeds things up, slows them down or overwhelms them. They confuse the body's normal functions. #antidepressants

@AkathisiaAlli I had terrible akathisia and painful locking up of my jaw and other muscles on antipsychotics and that's why I refused all meds after my bipolar diagnosis. They didn't even help when I had psychosis.
@AkathisiaAlli He needs to stop calling psychiatrists and call aternative medicine. Or an alternative/holistic/functional psychiatrist would be great for him… someone who addresses root causes and knows what the drugs can do.

This man is on a cocktail of psychiatric 'medication'. The more he is prescribed, the worse his condition. Despite his pleas, prescribers want to throw more brain pellets at him because they, seemingly, don't believe the 'medication' is the problem. Stefan is not alone.
