My most controversial opinion is that having five-year eligibility has been great for college basketball and should be continued beyond this year

1. I’m not sure people are prepared for the fact that the basketball product (which people already complain about) will get a lot worse when we replace 24 year olds with 20 year olds 2. The portal market collapse once we lose all these guys will be FIERCE - and it will just increase tampering and guys leaving before they graduate. Having a fifth year might keep kids through to graduation.
@CBB_Central So then all of the HS kids are pretty much done for and you minus well go to a prep school or JUCO?
@CBB_Central As long as they’re not playing at 5 schools in those 5 years I agree
@CBB_Central Absolutely couldn’t disagree more. I’m glad to see this go. I’d also support that you get 1 immediate eligibility transfer and then any other transfer results in having to sit a year. Or multiple year NIL contracts. The transfer portal is out of control.
@CBB_Central I would like to see Red Shirt Years done away with and have 5 years of eligibility (maybe have some minutes/game limitations for the 5th year). But having the 5th year has been a win for College Basketball, IMO.
@CBB_Central You know in theory people should only go to college four year right?
@CBB_Central You have this rule. It’s called a red shirt.
