Let’s call this what it is. The Browns want a dome. If they can get half of it funded, with the Haslams footing the other half, then Cleveland is getting a dome. It’s all about funding at this point.
@ByJasonLloyd If the Browns want a Dome it's not going to be downtown..Has a lot more to do then just funding..Not sure where you are getting your information..
@ByJasonLloyd At this rate, the Browns don’t just need a dome, we need the city to pull a Truman Show and slap a giant bubble over us all. #nomorerain
The Browns always wanted a dome. It would be a blow for the city of Cleveland if they go to the suburbs, a blow we can’t really afford, but the mayor’s office (allegedly) have been playing chicken with the Browns as if they don’t hold all the cards. Cleveland owns the building. The Haslems are willing to pay Cleveland half for a building that they don’t own. (And it’s important for the Browns to stay in a Cleveland owned property because that’s how you kept the team here. They sued Modell for breaking the lease). Also, to those folks that are like “they should pay for it all themselves”, ok if they do that then say goodbye to your relocation protections that are enshrined in state law. The law that says teams have to negotiate with their city and if that doesn’t work, they have to sell to a local owner who will keep the team there? That’s only enforceable if the team takes public money for a stadium deal. If they pay for all of it themselves, they own it and that law no longer applies. No protections
@ByJasonLloyd Make it happen. And put it in the suburbs.
@ByJasonLloyd Greater Cleveland needs a dome. Wish it were downtown with all the hotels, bars and restaurants to support it. But Brook Park is better than Richfield.
@ByJasonLloyd Not one penny from taxes should go to the Browns organization. The Cleveland Browns organization has not warranted another stadium.
@ByJasonLloyd Why does the media give dolan a pass after recent hundreds of millions tax deal to renovate baseball stadium?
@ByJasonLloyd Hopefully the city understands that the Browns are the only reason Cle is relevant. Don't make the same mistake AGAIN!! Ppl hate Modell but city needs to step up!! Can't blame Haslem if he moves the team. Blame the politicians!! GO BROWNS!!
@ByJasonLloyd I have a feeling that if they do a dome in Brookpark that the city of Cleveland will be involved in the deal in some way too.
