In Plato’s Republic, Socrates describes democracy as a dangerous system prone to tyranny, a view later echoed by Aristotle. Democracy, as commonly understood today, was often associated with mob rule. - "Does democracy destroy itself through its excessive greed for the very good it defines as its highest value?" - "What good do you mean?" - "Freedom," I said. "Because, in my view, in a democratic city, you will hear that freedom is the greatest good, and for this reason alone, anyone would want to live there." - "Yes," he said, "this is said, and very often." - "But isn’t it," I continued, "precisely this greed for freedom and the neglect of everything else that transforms a democracy into something else, something that eventually prepares the way for tyranny?" - "How so?" he asked. - "When a democracy, in its insatiable thirst for freedom, finds itself with reckless leaders acting as poor wine-pourers, they intoxicate the people with an excess of unrestrained liberty. And when the rulers fail to grant even more freedom, they are punished, denounced as corrupt and oligarchic." - "Yes, indeed, that happens," he agreed. - "Citizens who still respect authority are scorned as servile and unworthy, while those who behave like rulers, even though they are subjects, are praised both publicly and privately. Doesn’t this excessive freedom inevitably push the democracy to its most extreme state?" - "How could it not?" - "And, my friend," I said, "this chaos eventually enters people’s homes - until even the animals become anarchic." - "What do you mean?" he asked. - "Well," I said, "fathers begin to act like children, fearing their own sons. Sons treat their fathers as equals, showing neither respect nor fear - so they can be ‘free.’ Foreigners and metics (resident aliens) begin to claim equal rights with citizens. And citizens become indistinguishable from foreigners." - "That is true," he admitted. - "And there is even more," I continued. "In such a city, teachers fear their students and try to appease them, while students mock their teachers and disregard their authority. The young demand to be treated as equals to the old, even challenging them in speech and actions. And the elders, seeking to fit in, lower themselves to the level of the youth, engaging in jokes and imitating them, fearing they might seem ‘out of touch’ or ‘tyrannical.’" - "Absolutely," he agreed. - "But the height of this abuse of freedom is when slaves demand the same rights as their masters, and women claim absolute equality with men in all things, and vice versa." Plato's Republic, Book VIII (562b-c, 563b) - "For unrestrained liberty seems to lead to nothing else but the most extreme slavery, both for the individual and for the city." - "Of course," he said. - "Then, by natural consequence, tyranny arises from no other political system than democracy; from unlimited freedom comes the greatest and most brutal form of servitude." - "That certainly makes sense," he said. Plato’s Republic (564a) Unlimited freedoms, when untethered from any shared moral order or reciprocal restraint, devolves inexorably into tyranny through the very mechanisms it claims to liberate. In the absence of limits, liberty mutates into raw license. The strong exploit the weak without consequence, appetites run unchecked, and society fragments into a war of all against all where no one’s rights are truly secure. Today's democracy is dangerous. Someone can be a traitor, publicly shout that he wants to destroy his own country, kill his political opponents, and replace you racially and culturally because he hates himself, and yet he remains free to harm you and the future of your nation. Today's democracy protects him and may even reward him. When patience finally runs out, the new generations will seek an authoritarian leader. Don't act surprised about what drove them there. There was one time, when Aristotle apologized to Alexander. According to Plutarch, Alexander learned from Aristotle certain profound secret knowledge that was not taught to the others. When Alexander was in Asia and learned that Aristotle had published books containing some of his teachings, he wrote a letter to him about philosophy with great boldness, in which he stated verbatim: "Alexander greets Aristotle and wishes him well. You did not act rightly in publishing the esoteric teachings. For how will we differ from others if the teachings by which we were educated become common to all? I would prefer to distinguish myself through knowledge of the best things rather than through power. Farewell." Aristotle apologized regarding those teachings, stating that some were published while others, particularly those taught to Alexander, were not. We see the significance of Aristotle’s teachings, the esoteric knowledge, and the power they held. More than anyone else, Aristotle inspired in Alexander an inclination toward medicine. For he not only loved its theory but also assisted his sick friends and prescribed treatments and diets, as can be seen in his letters. By nature, Alexander loved literature and reading. The Iliad, which he received from Aristotle, who had annotated it (i.e., commented on the symbolism and secrets hidden by Homer), was called "the Iliad from the narthex." (The narthex was a reed-like, cylindrical plant. According to tradition, Prometheus hid the fire he stole from the gods within it. Thus, the Greeks used to make small cylindrical containers shaped like a narthex to store valuable items. In Persia, Alexander found such a container made of tin and placed Aristotle’s Iliad inside, which became known as "the Iliad from the narthex.") As mentioned, because he loved reading and had no other books in Upper Asia, he ordered Harpalus to send him some. Harpalus sent him the books of Philistus, several tragedies by Euripides, Sophocles, and Aeschylus, and the dithyrambs of Telestus and Philoxenus. Alexander admired and loved Aristotle, as he himself said, no less than his father, for he owed his life to Philip, but to Aristotle, he owed a good (morally) life. There’s a pattern among North European leaders who push hardest for Turkish membership: none of them pay the price. Stubb wants Turkey in the EU. Turkey doesn’t claim Finnish islands. Doesn’t occupy Finnish territory. Doesn’t challenge Finnish borders. Doesn’t dispute Finnish waters. For Finland, Turkish membership costs nothing. For Greece and Cyprus, it costs everything. The world’s largest ancient mosaic has been discovered in Turkey. Archaeological excavations in Antakya, Turkey have turned up the largest floor mosaic at 9,000 square feet (836 m²) made in late Roman period, IV Century CE.

Μας έχουν ζαλίσει οι γείτονες με τις ανυπόστατες αναφορές και να μη πω ότι μας έχουν "θαμπώσει" με τη μόρφωσή τους. Ισχυρίζονται ότι και η Ελλάδα είναι κατασκευασμένη όπως ακριβώς και εκείνοι... Η διαφορά μεταξύ της ελληνικής και της αλβανικής περίπτωσης είναι χαοτική! -Να ξεκινήσουμε από αυτό που τους καίει και τόσο πολύ έχουν στηρίξει την ύπαρξή τους...τη γλώσσα! Η ελληνική γλώσσα έχει μια αδιάσπαστη γραπτή παράδοση 3.500 ετών (από τη Γραμμική Β έως σήμερα επισήμως αλλά θα να πω ότι είναι παλαιότερη φυσικά και τα στοιχεία ανακαλύπτονται μέρα με τη μέρα ). Όταν δημιουργήθηκε το ελληνικό κράτος το 1830, οι άνθρωποι που ζούσαν εκεί μιλούσαν μια γλώσσα που ήταν η εξελιγμένη μορφή της αρχαίας ελληνικής και της μεσαιωνικής (βυζαντινής). Η αλβανική γλώσσα τώρα, εμφανίζεται γραπτά για πρώτη φορά μόλις τον 15ο αιώνα μ.Χ. Δεν υπάρχει καμία ενδιάμεση γραπτή απόδειξη που να συνδέει την αρχαία ιλλυρική με την αλβανική. Η σύνδεση είναι μια υπόθεση των γλωσσολόγων, όχι ένα αποδεδειγμένο γεγονός. Υπόθεση και εκεί θα παραμείνει! - Οι κάτοικοι του ελλαδικού χώρου, ακόμα και όταν το κράτος "δεν υπήρχε" (π.χ. υπό την Οθωμανική ή τη Ρωμαϊκή Αυτοκρατορία), είχαν συνείδηση της καταγωγής τους. Ονομάζονταν Ρωμιοί ή Γραικοί και γνώριζαν ότι οι αρχαίοι ναοί γύρω τους ήταν των προγόνων τους. Το Βυζάντιο κράτησε ζωντανή αυτή την κληρονομιά. Η Αλβανία τώρα, μέχρι τον 19ο αιώνα, οι πληθυσμοί που ζούσαν εκεί αυτοπροσδιορίζονταν κυρίως με βάση τη θρησκεία (Μουσουλμάνοι, Καθολικοί, Ορθόδοξοι) ή το φύλο τους (Γκέγκηδες, Τόσκηδες). Η "αλβανική εθνική συνείδηση" ως ενιαίο πολιτικό αίτημα άρχισε να σφυρηλατείται πολύ αργότερα, μέσω της Λίγκας της Πρισρένης (1878). Όταν οι Αλβανοί λένε "η Ελλάδα δημιουργήθηκε", εννοούν ότι το σύγχρονο ελληνικό κράτος ήταν ένα σχέδιο των Μεγάλων Δυνάμεων (Φιλελληνισμός, Ναυμαχία του Ναβαρίνου). Αλλά μιλάμε για μεγάλη εξυπνάδα... Είναι αλήθεια ότι οι Μεγάλες Δυνάμεις βοήθησαν στην ανεξαρτησία, αλλά το υλικό (ο λαός, η γλώσσα, η μνήμη) προϋπήρχε για χιλιετίες. Η διαφορά μας; Στην περίπτωση της Αλβανίας, το κράτος προηγήθηκε της εθνικής ομοιογένειας. Στην περίπτωση της Ελλάδας, το έθνος προηγήθηκε του κράτους. Οι Αλβανοί προσπαθούν να παρουσιάσουν την Ελλάδα ως "τεχνητή" για ένα και μόνο λόγο. Για να εξισώσουν τη δική τους έλλειψη ιστορικών πηγών. Αν πείσουν ότι "όλοι κατασκευάστηκαν τον 19ο αιώνα", τότε η δική τους θεωρία περί Ιλλυριών αποκτά την ίδια βαρύτητα με την ελληνική συνέχεια. Όμως: Είναι άλλο να λες "συνεχίζω να μιλάω και να γράφω ελληνικά όπως ο Πλάτωνας και ο Χρυσόστομος". Και άλλο να λες "υποθέτω ότι είμαι Ιλλυριός επειδή ζω στα ίδια χώματα, παρόλο που δεν ξέρω ούτε μια λέξη από τη γλώσσα τους"... Με λίγα λόγια γιατί πολλά μας τα είπαν αυτές τις μέρες οι άσχετοι. Το ελληνικό κράτος όντως "δημιουργήθηκε" πολιτικά το 1830, αλλά το ελληνικό έθνος ήταν εκεί από πάντα. Το αλβανικό κράτος δημιουργήθηκε το 1912 και έπρεπε να "εφεύρει" μια αρχαία καταγωγή για να νομιμοποιηθεί απέναντι στους γείτονές του... Καλημέρα είπαμε; Ε ας πούμε...Καλημέρα και πάλι σε όλους!
