If you entered repayment on your student loans over two decades ago but still have loans – we’re proposing that your debt is cancelled in its entirety.
@POTUS Joe Biden can’t cancel student loan debt. It’s unconstitutional. SCOTUS has already blocked it once. Nancy Pelosi even said Biden can’t do it. Only Congress can forgive debt. What Biden is doing now is trying to buy votes by lying to Americans who have student loan debt.
@Bubblebathgirl @POTUS No it’s not. The route he tried to take was not right but there are other legal channels he can take to cancel debt. Congress gave the executive branch this power decades ago
@Bubblebathgirl @POTUS There is no such thing as canceling or forgiving , taxpayers are on the hook.
@Bubblebathgirl @POTUS Sure is. The HEROES ACT allows for very minor changes via Exec Order. He moved to change the ACT entirely and lost 6-3. However, he's now using the Higher Ed Act of 1965, which grants that power to the Secretary of Education to modify or forgive. This would be widely challenged
@Bubblebathgirl @POTUS I don’t think you read the SCOTUS decision. The WH doesn’t have the ability to do blanket forgiveness. But it can do things like say: if you made 240 months of payments, your loan is forgiven. There are forgiveness plans that already do this
@Bubblebathgirl @POTUS Biden did it once. He will do it again.
@Bubblebathgirl @POTUS Dictators can do what they want
@Bubblebathgirl @POTUS Trying? I'd say he's succeeding in buying votes
@Bubblebathgirl @POTUS Yes he can, if its under what was already passed by congress. PSLF was passed in 2007.
