Yesterday at the Vice Presidential announcement, @RobertKennedyJr asked us to have an open mind & to listen with open ears. I think he said that for the conservative reactionaries like myself, who immediately went into panic mode upon the announcement of @NicoleShanahan. I grew up as a conservative & that label has been the only thing I’ve ever known. My first election I was elected unanimously by my town because of my conservative views on spending. Breaking the labels has been particularly difficult for me personally. The Kennedy campaign has been a roller coaster ride at times, because of my conservative values, its put me at odds with many inside the campaign. So I worked overtime to bring in those who thought like me into the fold. I recruited dissatisfied republicans, who see Trump, not as a conservative, but as a liberal tyrant. I wanted only opinions like mine surrounding me. Well friends, that’s called an echo chamber & it’s extraordinarily unhealthy! When I declared my independence back in October, I forgot to throw away my labels, instead I held on tight. Progress cannot happen without compromise & the ability to work with those we disagree with. When Kennedy gave his speech asking for us to listen without judgment, I failed at first! Then I opened my mind & my heart, I listened to Nicole throughly & without bias. I still disagree with her on many issues, but where we agree, such as anti-globalism, non-interventionism, & personal liberty is the most important. The other stuff is all noise. Please don’t walk away from the best candidate we’ve had in our lifetime over a perceived threat. Give her 1 month to show you who she is, allow her to show you her independent streak! Let’s heal the divide together all of us. The left, the right, & the center United as ONE.
@BryceMLipscomb @RobertKennedyJr @NicoleShanahan I'll get back to you.
@BryceMLipscomb @RobertKennedyJr @NicoleShanahan No. NO. NO. NO. This is a ridiculous choice. Words mean NOTHING and anyone who thinks a speech fixes this is fooling themselves. This was BAD judgement.
@BryceMLipscomb @RobertKennedyJr @NicoleShanahan I'm impressed with your self-reflection! I wasn't happy with the choice for other reasons, but I’m willing to give her a chance to prove herself.
@BryceMLipscomb @RobertKennedyJr @NicoleShanahan Despite RFK Jr.'s choice for VP, I still have some faith in him. However, after listening to Nicole Shanahan I read the biographical information available and did more research. IMHO, despite the picture she painted in her speech, her past decisions and actions disqualify her.
Best impulses of our democracy and our humanity. Proud to serve alongside you Bryce. I promise you that Kennedy Shanahan will fight tooth and nail for you, and for every homeless conservative, independent, and democrat demanding liberty and sovereignty in this Orwellian age of surveillance, censorship, and control.
