Year 16!!! And I get to do it with this crew of young ladies. They brought me back out into AAU travel ball life. I been coaching this game that I love for a while now and this reminds me why I do it! Blessed and humbled to teach and develop young athletes. Love this life! 🏀💙🧡

Leaders are optimists. That doesn’t mean they ignore reality. It means they see the situation but lead with hope and belief that drives the team forward toward a better day. Pessimism and negativity hold us back. Optimism leads to better outcomes. Leaders stir up hope.
This also kept me in highly charged negative emotions, which blinded me from seeing my ex’s side. For example, if he disagreed with me, or if he wasn't meeting my expectations in some way, I thought we weren't "meant to be," and I should leave. That was emotional immaturity.
But I think the word “toxic” gets thrown around a bit too much these days. In truth, my limited thinking kept me from seeing past my negative bias and cognitive distortions to explore the valuable growth I ACTUALLY needed.
3. Real relationship success is not about the butterflies or romance. Instead, it’s about how well you manage conflict, and nurture your union and commitment. I’m not saying it’s ok to fight all day, every day. Abusive situations definitely DO exist.
And, attempting to rescue someone from the inner hell they’ve created for themselves sounds romantic at first, but will hurt both you, and them, in the long run. 100% do NOT recommend. Personal responsibility + action is the new sexy.
1. Infatuation does NOT = love. Feelings can change depending on many factors, but a strong commitment to something meaningful usually does not. 2. Disney lied. “Happily ever after” doesn’t exist unless you’re doing the work to make it so. You must water your own grass.
I’ve had two divorces. My understanding of love and commitment were all wrong. Here are 3 facts about relationships I wish I had known sooner:

Culture is revealed in big moments but is built in the small, daily interactions, decisions, words and actions. When you’re intentional in the small moments you won’t need to worry about the big moments. Show up on purpose.

We tolerate people who don't value our worth because we don't know our worth. Their greatest mistake is mismanaging us in our season of ignorance. The challenge for us is finding, acknowledging, & accepting the fact that WE ARE WORTHY. Once we realize who we really are, ITS UP!
