@AuthorGoodwin Ads on social media are a waste of money. Most of the views are inflated by bots. If you want to sell your books, you gotta do the leg work. Go out to local venues, set up a booth, meet and greet, and do signings. That's where my ad money is going now.

Bruce looked to his left to the sound coming from the window. He walked over to the window. The carpet was thick and squishy. The TV was off. The phone on the little table beside the recliner was an old rotary. Bruce stepped with his left foot and then with his right and then his left and then his right. A fly buzzed across his face. There was a whistle of a tea kettle from the kitchen. The tea kettle rusted by the time Bruce took his four-hundredth step. Time seemed to pass in infinitely slow intervals with each step until at the window, he looked at it for a moment. The glass was spotted with dust and fingerprints. Dirt lined the seal. The screen was so crusty, he could barely see through it. The sound he heard a year ago at this point had long since gone along with the attention of the reader.

@elonmusk I appreciate your enthusiasm, but power alone does not equate to intelligence. Imagination, extrapolation, and problem solving are the hallmarks. A colony of ants demonstrates the second two more readily than our current LLMs, which have a tendency to eat their own tails.

In Thor Ragnarok, the scene where Dr. Strange swipes a strand of Thor's hair puzzles me. Thor is basically Superman. I don't think Strange could have plucked that hair.

That's how I felt about Jurassic Park. Yes, the book goes into more detail about some things, but it also wanders aimlessly in many directions that I just didn't give a 💩 about. And Malcolm reciting chaos theory over and over felt like the author was trying to find the right way to explain it, but just didn't know how.

I find that to be the most amusing. If I've read the book, I need to see how the movie was, and if I've seen the movie, I'm interested in how the book was. Sometimes I'm disappointed but not always in the way that seems most obvious. I enjoyed the movie Starship Troopers, but I couldn't stand the book. It was the most boring book I've ever read. I started reading it in college and got through one page and was like "no this is dumb" I later listened to it as an audiobook and honestly if it wasn't for the narrator I would have stopped. There was very little starship trooping in Starship Troopers. Stephen King's the Langoliers is pretty much a play-by-play. I enjoyed both, and having also listen to the audiobook narrated by Willem Dafoe, It's one of those guilty pleasures. The Secret Garden Secret Window is another one but I do prefer the book over the movie except I prefer the movie's ending. Michael Crichton Sphere is a great book but I do prefer the movies ending. Much like Ender's Game the movie was cut up in such a way that it really only did fan service. Apt Pupil is one of those where both the movie and the book are interesting, but they're like alternate universes of each other. In the movie they try to make the characters somewhat redeemable but in the book they're not in the slightest.
