My goal this month is to post every day about my daughter for #AutismAcceptanceMonth. And because of my tweet earlier about Jevon Holland, what better time than now to connect the dots! Earlier this season, my daughter saw Holland on TV and immediately shouted “Number 8!!! Just like me!!!” You see, on the classroom attendance sheet, she is the 8th student listed. She will not share the number 8 with anyone else - but she gravitated towards Jevon and immediately embraced sharing 8 with him. It turned into searching for him on the field every game day to wearing his name and number to and even getting a custom-made jersey just so she could twin with him. To my daughter, that’s her bestie and her twin. And we’ve kind of joked around he’s part of the family now. If you don’t have any personal experience with a child with autism, it kind of sounds like a silly story. But there was once a time where I questioned if she would ever connect with others outside of family and form friendships. So he’s more than just a football player to us; he’s our twin. ⛄️ forever!
@Brittbabi That is so AWESOME! Perhaps she can meet/hand out with Jevon someday. I'd love to see THAT video! She's a beautiful little girl!
@Brittbabi I totally understand as I work with children with Autism, it certainly opened my eyes to the way I see the world and how I view things. They are the greatest people I know and they have taught me so much.
@Brittbabi Thats so cool. I was the 29th person on my roll sheet in grade school 1 year, which is why Sam Madison was my favorite player and always picked 29 for my jersey # all the way through H.S
@Brittbabi Love it! @quickdrawjev needs to come for dinner. Such a great story.
