It’s the start of the Easter long weekend today. We see you in South Africa. It’s not even 7am, and you’re already planning your half-day. So I’m taking a moment this morning to be grateful for Faith, Hope, and Love this Easter. Faith. You may not know this, but religion saved me. Literally. I may have gone through a very dark patch after coming out and the church is where I found my solace. I'm a Gay Christian - I know, right!?! How bizarre that I would say something so absurd when many people who go to church choose to openly hate my kind, but here's the thing... I am only alive today because I found Faith, not in the people who say they follow the book, but in the book itself. I don't shout it out from the rooftops, I don't go to church every Sunday, and I don't try to force what I believe on anyone else. But this weekend I will shout a little louder. This weekend I will be thankful that I found Faith. And that saved me. Hope. Easter is also a reminder that no matter what challenges we face in life, there is always the possibility of a new beginning and a brighter future ahead. It is all about hope. So to celebrate Easter, here are three beautiful, powerful truths about hope: 1. Hope is a beacon of light in the darkness. It can provide us with the strength and motivation we need to overcome even the most difficult challenges. 2. Hope is contagious. When we share our hopes and dreams with others, we inspire them to dream big and work towards their own goals. 3. Hope is a reminder of the goodness in the world. Even in the face of adversity and hardship, hope allows us to see the potential for beauty and joy in our lives and in the world around us. Hope helps us to stay focused on the possibilities rather than the limitations and encourages us to keep moving forward towards a better future. Love. Love is the answer. Love will always win. It is all about Love. "When we love, we always strive to become better than we are. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too". You can cite many passages from the Bible to support many different arguments, but the one thing you cannot deny is that the entire book is written about Love. Love for your neighbours. Love for people who are different to you. Love in all its forms. Love occurs more times than anything else in the book... 310 in 280 verses, to be exact, and perhaps it's a reminder that our purpose is to just Love one another. No matter what commandments, sutras, religious or spiritual practices you follow... if you choose Love you will win. In fact, we all will. And as 1 Corinthians 13:13 states, now these three remain: Faith, Hope and Love. But the greatest of these is Love. Take these 3 things and hold on to them, knowing that they will always remain but maybe, most importantly, give them away to others too. Happy Easter my friends. Okay. Love you. Bye.
@BrentLindeque As far as I know, God in the Bible doesn't judge and you are made the way he wants you to be. So gay or straight it shouldn't matter.
