Pretty much. 🤔 "I think a lot of this felt like, 'we're gonna announce targets and goals without a way to get there'," Cantor said. It's hard to imagine how Tesla can bridge the gap between where it is now and this Airbnb-Uber-robotaxi future. insideevs.com/news/717345/te…
Roadster/Model 2, Model Y mini truck, and extended range trailer are the obvious and most feasible direction (even Tesla fans agree). Yet, this is being blocked by Elon. His claims about FSD/robotaxi are a fantasy. I know because this is my area of expertise; it isn't feasible.
@Brehmel The article seems accurate to me. I've been saying he was bored with auto for awhile and who wouldn't be? It's a tedious business. The way to bridge to robotaxi? You don't. You just go all out. *if* tech is solved there will be a way. *if not* then they're screwed.
@Brehmel I disagree with one premise: It isn't that Elon is "bored" with cars, it's that he realizes they can't compete selling cars and all he can do to save the company/stock is to pump up something "better". Will they deliver? Almost definitely not, but problem for another day.
@Brehmel The entire concept of a robotaxi is ignorant of the reality. The car company will have to own the car, which means you will not own a car. That is their goal. $2/mile to travel, vs NET at 10 cents/mile total costs. Slave vs free...
@Brehmel Parkinson's law says: "work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion". Knowing this, Musk always, and most of the times unrealistically, tries to reverse that law. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkinson…
@Brehmel If you listened to the presentation, it's clear that Elon is far from bored with the Car industry. He sets crazy ambitious goals for a reason. We wants to make sure that they get there through revolution, not evolution. Anyone can make small improvements, but it's too slow.
@Brehmel When you’re the leader of a full blown cult all that’s needed are targets and goals. Trump was going to have Mexico pay for the border and it didn’t matter that it wasn’t possible just that enough people believed it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
