Thames Water is talking about a temporary renationalisation to pay their debts. This must not be allowed, there is no temporary, if they are nationalised it is GAME OVER, goodbye shareholders. RT if we must not be made to pay their debts for nothing.
@BladeoftheS @thedullmackerel In the 11 years from 2007 to 2017 Thames Water paid out £2.8 billion in dividends to shareholders. In total they paid out around £7.2 billion in dividends to shareholders over the 32 years since privatization in 1989. I want that back. theguardian.com/business/2023/…
@BladeoftheS @fliss59 They must be taken into state ownership on a permanently .....and run for benefit of the people ....as should all our utilities....
@BladeoftheS @PaulCanOnlyGet1 If they declare bankruptcy can they State not buy the bankrupt remains for reduced amt ? If so they must be made to go the bankruptcy route
@BladeoftheS @Patrici89225734 On one hand the Exchequer should require all shareholder dividends to be repaid before TW gets bailed out. On the other hand what would happen to pension funds if that were done?
@BladeoftheS Privatisation of public utilities was always a bad idea. This is a chance to correct the consequences of a historical error made way back in the Thatcher/Lawson era.
@BladeoftheS @KevinJDonoghue Think we should also sue the shareholders that got dividends paid for with borrowed funds.
@BladeoftheS Temporary nationalisation is just asking the tax payer to cover their debts. How about the share holders cover those debts not us. They enjoyed the dividends.

@BladeoftheS @Condefucius Temporary renationalisation is a bit like someone who stole your house saying sorry for completely wrecking it & you can have it back till you fix it up & then they will steal it again. What brazen theft!
@BladeoftheS They want the tax payer to pay their debts? Shareholders & managers should return some of the money they creamed off from the tax payer, and start paying for the cost of infastructure work. This is public theft.
