More than a year ago, the House passed the Clarity Act. There’s been progress since — thousands of hours of bipartisan negotiations took place at the staff and Member levels. The Senate Committees on Banking and Agriculture advanced their respective titles. And Senate Republicans produced a floor-ready product that, as I type this, is waiting for a vote. It’s disappointing — but not surprising — that Senate Democrats are choosing politics on the cusp of a major victory for American leadership. Find another instance in history where Congress, when given the choice, opted to push an industry out of the United States rather than smartly regulate it. American Exceptionalism was once a bipartisan goal; if Clarity fails, I have serious doubts. These same Democrats — many of whom have taken millions of dollars from the crypto industry — proclaim that Clarity lacks safeguards for consumers and falls short in countering illicit finance. Nothing could be further from the truth. Titles II and III materially uplift regulatory and compliance obligations for digital asset intermediaries, placing them on similar footing with traditional financial institutions. The Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act — which Washington lobbyists have spun up as a boogeyman for certain groups of prosecutors and law enforcement — does nothing other than codify longstanding Treasury Department policy that’s remained consistent across Administrations: non-custodial builders and developers are not, and have never been, subject to registration obligations under the Bank Secrecy Act. And at this point, major law enforcement trades that once opposed the bill, including the Fraternal Order of Police, have now endorsed it. The Senate needs to vote NOW on this landmark legislation. The truth is that Senate Democrats are afraid to advance the Clarity Act as they fear Senator Warren and the “Anti-Crypto Army” she once promised to build. In the days ahead, Leader Thune will put this theory to the test. Will Senate Democrats be on the side of American Exceptionalism, or will they opt to cede American leadership of a global industry for fear of the bespectacled squirrel’s Left flank? America will lead or America won’t. It’s not more complicated than that. I believe Satoshi once said it best: “If you don’t believe me or don’t get it, I don’t have time to try to convince you, sorry.”

If you give problems the wrong names, you can't understand them. If you can't understand problems, you can't fix them. There are almost no homeless people in America. There are only feral humans. A homeless person is someone whose distinguishing feature is not having a home. I was homeless once, for a day, when the lease on one apartment expired before the next one was cleaned, repaired, and ready. I parked a moving van full of my worldly possessions at my university, and slept on a couch in the student commons. That's "homeless". "Feral" is when a human cannot live within society, or comply with the basic expectations required for membership. Yes, they do not have homes. But this is not their distinguishing feature. Because they also don't have jobs, sanity, sobriety, manners, morals, or hygiene. Which is why they do not have homes. If you give them a house, because you think they are "homeless" rather than "feral", then they will simply repeat, within that structure, the same feral behavior. And soon that structure will be uninhabitable. Which, for certain people, is the whole point. A man whose job is to sell 3d printed houses isn't trying to fix the feral-human problem. He's trying to sell 3d printed houses. And it's one hell of a lot easier to sell them to bureaucrats who aren't spending their own personal money. It doesn't matter if 3d printed houses suck to live in. It doesn't matter if the feral humans trash them. Nobody in this equation cares about the feral humans, even the feral humans themselves. And nobody in this equation cares about the taxpayers. If the feral humans are still feral, then the 3d house grifters can sell more gimmick houses, and the bureaucrats can spend more of someone else's money. If a violent political upheaval becomes necessary, this will be very unpleasant for everyone involved, but at least afterwards, we will all be able to use the feral humans, bureaucrats, and grifters to fertilize the garden of new homes. Which will be made out of bricks.

If you look back at games that are 30+ years old, the vast majority has aged quite visibly. Whether we are talking about gameplay or graphics, you can often tell they're way beyond their peak. And then there is that rare and small category of magnificent games that age gracefully. One such game is Civilization II. Created and published by MicroProse 30 years ago, it has lost very little of its charm. When I first played the original Civilization in 1991, I thought I’d never see a better strategy game. Then Civilization II arrived and raised the bar dramatically. Better graphics, improved diplomacy, superior units (goodbye Phalanx vs. Battleship trauma), more tech choices, deeper gameplay - just what fans of the original had hoped for. It kept the core principles while making the rest around it better. And that's also what makes this game almost timeless - the original idea and concept is still brilliant, and I take an educated guess and say even another 30 years from now there will still be people playing this classic. While the original Civ holds a higher nostalgic value in my heart, the sequel Civ II was a nerd-dream come true. Still playing it now, 30 years after its release...

Elon Musk was asked by an interviewer what he does when he makes a wrong decision. He said he doesn't make decisions based on being right. He makes decisions based on expected value. Which means he expects to be wrong frequently. He said if you're not wrong at least 30% of the time you're not making enough decisions. He described SpaceX's approach to rocket design. Instead of spending years perfecting a design on paper and then building it, they build it fast, launch it, watch it explode, and use the explosion as data for the next version. The explosions aren't failures. They're the fastest way to generate the information needed for success. He said most companies fail not because they make bad decisions but because they make too few decisions. They spend so long trying to be right that the opportunity passes. A wrong decision made quickly generates data. A delayed decision generates nothing. Then he said the part that made the interviewer go quiet. He said the biggest mistakes of his career weren't the times he was wrong. They were the times he was right but too slow. The times he knew the answer and waited for more confirmation before acting. The delay cost more than any wrong answer ever did. The world sees Elon as a risk taker. He sees himself as someone who moves fast enough that the cost of being wrong is always lower than the cost of being slow. That's not the same thing as courage. It's math.

He is not wrong. I have always said Bitcoin is far more useful at $10 million a coin than it is at current prices. You do not get there without global finance getting on board. Hyperbitcoinisation is not achieved by 1% of the world holding it in cold storage. It is achieved when Bitcoin becomes the foundation the entire financial system is built upon. That is how $BTC becomes money.
