1980: Life takes strange twists & turns. I'm reading about new #NYGiants TE @theo_Johnson_ as he gets ready to start his NFL career. It sounds like his mom stepped up to save his family from an abusive relationship. Theo's father, Nate, played for NYG as a returner in 1980.

I have no idea how the Giants draft will work out. But all the picks make sense so far when you consider drafting for value and how they fit the way the team is being constructed. That’s all you can really ask as a fan. Now they need to be coached up & produce.

I’ll just get it out of the way. Anytime the #NYGiants take a TE in the draft, let alone out of a traditional football school, especially in the 4th round, Giants fans of a certain age will automatically reference 1 man (it’s Bavaro’s birthday tomorrow too, so heads up for that)

2019: Draft Week- At pick 171 in 5th round, #NYGiants took @Young_Slay2 out of Auburn. His pick was announced from the Make-A-Wish castle in NJ & here was the video of the phone call from then coach Pat Shurmur & the NYG assistant coaches to Slayton after he was picked.

1995: Draft Week- #NYGiants twitter would have melted down if this happened today. NYG were picking #130. The front office couldn't agree on a pick & decided to take more time/let other teams decide the tie breaker & had 3 teams jump them before taking Ben Talley out of Tennessee

1996: Draft Week- Taking a QB always will raise eyebrows, no matter the round. #NYGiants in 4th round took @dannykanell & the initial discussion was to replace Maddox as the backup QB. He ended up taking over for an injured Dave Brown in 1997 & led NYG to the NFC East title

1997: Don't discount late round picks making an impact. @jessiewarmstead was picked in 8th round of 1993 draft, a round that doesn't even exist anymore. He turned into a 5x Pro Bowler & leader of #NYGiants defense & played 9 years for NYG

2005: Draft Week- The mid/late rounds of the draft is where the scouts earn their pay. You fill out your team depth & can find gems. #NYGiants did that in 4th round w/ @BrandonJacobs27 who ended up rushing for over 5000 yards & his 64 career TDs are 4th in NYG history

1993: HBD George Thornton turns 56. #NYGiants signed him before the 1993 season to add depth to DL after spending 2 years in SD. He got in some late snaps in a blowout at Washington (wearing #79) & in on a @PASTOROFPAIN57 sack. He suffered a stroke a few weeks later & retired

2018: HBD @S_C_3_T turns 28. Chandler signed w/ #NYGiants as an UDFA out of Temple in 2018 & played 3 years for the NYG. A safety/special teamer, Chandler recovered a late fumble against Chicago in 30-27 OT win

2016: Draft Week- #NYGiants got a good one in 2nd round in @sterl_shep3. Shep ended up playing his entire 8 year career w/ NYG & his 372 catches are 5th in NYG team history. If not for injuries that hit him during his prime, he likely would have finished at #3 (Morrison- 395)
