Spotted at yesterday's Senate Budget Committee: while witnesses were still actively testifying about the need to protect independent contractors from the NJDOL's disastrous approach to worker classification, AFL-CIO Legislative Affairs Director Eric Richard gets up from the gallery & walks behind the dais like he owns the place (surprising Chairman Sarlo into temporarily halting the hearing) to confer with @SenGreenstein before her vote on the bill. She ends up being the only legislator out of 13 to abstain "because of the union testimony."

The "Build America 250 Act" released last week calls for some key changes impacting the trucking industry. Two aspects of the bill that are getting quite a bit of attention: mandatory bathroom access for truckers, and dedicated Federal funding to increase truck parking. UPDATE 6:26am: Already hearing that trucks are slowly getting through. The entrance to Maher Terminals has been temporarily blocked by unauthorized protesters. The PAPD is on scene removing them from the in-gate area, and truck gates will resume as soon as possible. Your patience and understanding is appreciated!
