I’m not saying that’s not an improvement but here’s mine. • A 3-term limit for Mayor. • Mayor salary reduced to $175k annually with an automatic 1% increase annually. • Security detail of the Mayor reduced to two officers per 8 hour shift. • Move mayoral/municipal elections to November to align with state & national elections. • Elected officials must step down from the office they currently hold within 14 days of announcing their campaign for a different office. • City council members be reduced to 30 from 50. • A 3-term limit for Alderman. • Alderman salary reduced to $100k annually with an automatic 1% increase annually. • Chicagoans (not Alderman) are given the ability to vote on the Sanctuary City Ordinance. • Chicagoans are given the ability to recall their Alderman & Mayor. • Emergency elections are held in cases where an Alderman steps down/retires/dies during their term. Mayor shouldn’t have the ability to appoint Alderman. • Any & all racially or politically motivated caucus within city council not be recognized.
