No one should be playing zone defense in youth basketball.
@BballCoachMac You waste too much energy on this subject coach, time to move on.
@BballCoachMac I coach 7th grade boys. We play man unless we press. I spend a whole lot more time in practice, however, working on man-to-man drills. We then incorporate those fundamentals into the zone defense. The zone becomes better if you understand M2M, Shell D, etc. IMO.
@BballCoachMac Wait, a minute: If opponent coach is CRAZY enough to let his/her team launch 3s with long rebounds, what's wrong with letting them toss bricks and be sure there's only one shot; defensive rebounds key. No rebounds, no W. If opposing coach is running normal O, man-to-man always
@BballCoachMac No one should be debating still if they should or shouldn’t 🙄🤦🏻♂️
@BballCoachMac Respectfully disagree. Depends on age.
@BballCoachMac This is the biggest disservice a coach can do to a player. If you’re youth coach is playing nothing but zone you should be asking him why.
@BballCoachMac My sons High School coach never not once in three years of varsity played a zone.
@BballCoachMac True! Nor should they be learning 20 entries into flex offense. Learn to play basketball the right way. Small sided games and skills.
