I just sat in an IEP meeting where there was no administrator, no gen ed T, no diag no nothing except for a sped T a translator and maybe 1 other person. I shut that ish down promptly. That was the most egregious show of disrespect to a fam I’ve ever seen in edu. Unconscionable.
@DrTeresaSanders @tetheredtoed1 We tried to get an IEP. We hired an advocate who told us to request testing. We made the request and were told they would make a decision on testing by April or May. The advocate reminded them that we could exercise our due process rights. They said they could do the testing now.
@BarryGarelick @DrTeresaSanders @tetheredtoed1 Amazing how quick they start to work when a lawyer gets involved.
@BarryGarelick @DrTeresaSanders @tetheredtoed1 I was the state-mandated volunteer student/family advocate for years. We had a admin tried to screw every kid. “Due Process” should have been on my name tag.
@BarryGarelick @DrTeresaSanders @tetheredtoed1 I wonder how many Public School IEP Advocate jobs exist and what that employment catagory has done since its inception in the USA. Plus how often an IEP Team is responsible for alerting the Medical Community to medicate a child off their Expert Team Diagnosis (MA med kidnapsKids)
